Nice site but not keen on the area
We used Hurn Lane as a stop-over on the way back North from Cornwall. The site was busy but the welcome was friendly and the facilities a decent standard. At reception there is a small selection of grocery essentials and there's a book exchange too.
The site is close to the coast road, about a ten minute walk down Hurn Lane. As you set off on the walk you can't help but notice the large number of holiday sites in this area. They seem to surround the Club site and there are literally hundreds of static caravans along this stretch of coast.
I have to admit, it was a drizzly day when we visited but I don't understand what the attraction is here. When we got to the beach it was grim. The sand is hard and vehicles can park on the beach. There are signs that warn of the dangerous sinking sand if you venture too far out and it's not what you would call picturesque. I'm sure everything would look better on a sunny day though.
We visited the beachside Sundowner bar, which is part of yet another holiday site. The entertainer belted out her best Tina Turner, "simply the best" vocal. Oh the irony! A couple of audience members stood, swayed and sang along too. They were 'happy' but it was only 5pm and we didn't want to feature in this particular episode of Phoenix Nights.
I don't think I will hurry to return to this area.
