Great Site in Winter
We have just visited this site for the third time and always in winter as this fits our touring programme. The site facilities have steadily improved and are very good indeed. We booked a fully serviced pitch and it worked well despite the fallen leaves being attracted to the drain. The welcome was warm, as were the spotless shower blocks and the whole site was very tidy considering the time of year and weather. The main road can be noisy with some big lorries passing but this did not cause us any problems.
The site is well situated with easy access for even large units and there is plenty of walking directly from the site or from the Sika Trail car park about a mile south towards Wareham. The off road circular walk to and around the Saxon walled town of Wareham is a favourite. The Silent Woman was great for meals and beer as usual, lovely and warm, very friendly and attentive staff and brilliant food (The venison steak was awesome!).
An easy drive away is Swanage where the sandy beach is open to dogs Oct-May and there are cliff top walks to Old Harry and Durlston Head. Don't miss Lulworth Cove, where the Boat Shed Cafe on the beach is a great for coffee and a snack, and the iconic Durdle Door with more walking and swimming.Only down side is that the Club WiFi is poor.
