Bitterly disappointed

We use our van all year round and have a 3-4 week tour in the summer. We booked this summer’s 3 sites prior to Covid. Our third stop was Hunters Moon, we saw some reviews (one has since been removed?) saying pitches were crowded, the busy road is noisy, WiFi signal is extremely poor and proximity of traveller sites the common themes. Sadly, we experienced exactly the same. The service pitches are next to the incredibly busy road with HGVs and aggregate lorries thundering by constantly. The site is crammed in with very little room between pitches and making ‘social distancing’ very difficult. The most disappointing part of the site was the unhelpful, rude warden we met towards the end of our stay (those at the beginning were fab). Nobody predicted the heatwave that came during our stay with weather warnings and constant daytime temps over 34˚ we struggled to keep our 14 week old puppy cool. Our pitch had no shade so sitting in the awning with wet towels for the pup were the best we could do. Increasingly concerned about the puppy we ordered a dog cool vest and fan. We were notified of delivery by courier so I went to reception and was met with a very abrupt warden telling me we had broken the rules as it was not previously approved and was not a part for the caravan. I explained we were unaware of this rule and unfortunately had another parcel due the next day, this was met with a shrug and told they might not be available to receive it as it is against the rules. Having looked through the sheet of Covid rules the site issued on our arrival and a quick look through the Club website my wife went back to reception and spoke to the same warden who stated that it is very clearly set out in the club rules that they are ‘not a sorting office’ and it is not allowed for deliveries to site. She also went on to say that handling parcels puts themselves at risk during the pandemic. This itself is incorrect according to the Government issued information on precautionary methods. Surely if this individual was that concerned about being Covid secure she should enforce the requirement for face coverings to be worn – we observed several people enter the reception without them, one of which was in the shop during my original exchange about the parcel! We tracked the second parcel to ensure we were there for the delivery. The driver said he had already been in reception and the same warden had refused to accept it despite the shop being open! We are a very law abiding family and wouldn't knowingly break rules and have previously had items delivered to club sites and always found staff to be happy to help. We've spent considerable time researching site deliveries and can't find any policy on the club website, so how the warden thought it was ‘clearly set out’ is beyond me. In short, the site is not as nice as any we have been to during 20+ years as members and this individual is enough reason that we definitely will not be returning.
