First Time Camper-vanner

So pleased I picked this site for my first ever solo camper van trip. I stayed fairly local in case I messed up big time and could just go home. But I need not have worried. From the minute I pulled up, and told the girls at reception I was a total novice, they went out of their way to make sure I was ok. I had booked a serviced pitch, without realising I needed rock pegs, which I had left at home, but had bought grass pitch pegs, so they moved my pitch (which I preferred). They left me to it, but walked by at regular intervals to see how I was getting on, with putting up the awning, and connecting all the gear up. I asked them quite a lot of questions and every time they answered and helped show me what to do. As a woman on my own,[my sister was with me but purely as a spectator!], I felt safe and so proud I had achieved my first trip without disaster. The location was amazing and they keep the site absolutely spotless - everywhere. They work very hard. And they came out to say goodbye when I left and congratulated me which I thought was so lovely of them. Top marks and a big thank you to the girls and Graham at Hunters Moon. I will be back ha ha!!!

A Gem of a site

Normal typical high standard as you would expect, nice a relaxed and quiet (even considering it was Easter and nearly full). What I hadn't appreciated was what a wonderful little corner of the country it is. Wareham Forest on the doorstep with the cycle trail and walks. The beautiful countryside around Corfe Castle, Lulworth with places to park up just take in the views. Poole and Sandbanks, always something happening on the water there to watch. Weymouth and Bournemouth for the more traditional beach holiday. I'm sure there is much more but we ran out of days, definitely be booking to go back! The only slight negative, the no awning pitch next to the WC block looked very cramped and wouldn't personally be somewhere I'd want stop for a holiday (fine if it's just an over night stop over)

Brilliant

Have just returned home after 4 nights at this site, and it is one of the best sites I have ever been to. All of the staff are friendly helpful and approachable. The toilet facilities are lovely and clean no matter what time of day you use them which in my opinion is a must !! I will definately be returning, open all year round is a bonus as well. Had a lovely chat with Dawn when we were checking out, really didnt want to leave. So local for loads of places and some lovely walks in the close vicinity of the site. So well done Hunters Moon team and thankyou x

Great location

I found Hunter's Moon to be well-run, clean and well-located. I walked to Wareham a couple of times through the forestry, which was muddy but fun! Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and many other places are about 20 minutes drive away. Staff were friendly and helpful to me, a campervan rookie, and answered all my silly questions with great patience. Recommend. - great value too

lovely stay, helpful member

This is a lovely site an easily reached. Standards are high and the staff, are friendly an helpful. However, the weather was not very nice!!. During our stay, I tripped (off site) and quite severely hurt my ribs and other parts. My wife went for help and asked a fellow member, to assist. Darren Taylor, a club member, came to assist and get me back to our unit. I cannot thank Darren enough, he went out of his way to ensure I was ok. He later came back to ask if I was ok and if he could assist further. What a great man. Thank you very much

Peaceful January stay

We originally booked for 7 nights but the site was so peaceful we ended up staying for 16 nights. The site was well run and the wardens were friendly . The facilities were spotless. The site is ideally placed for visits to Dorset attractions. There is also a well stocked Sainsburys in Wareham . The only downside is the internet signal is very poor ! Will definitely be back.

In spite of the rain

The management team were efficient, friendly and helpful. The facilities were excellent and, in spite of the rain, very clean. Lots of small ‘service’ points unobtrusively around for rubbish, waste water, drinking water, , etc. I was there for only three days over Christmas and there were only about 35 vans so the site was quiet, with no children. I don’t know what it would be like in the height of summer when the sure is full. I was most pleased with the fully fenced dog field - a major benefit when it was too wet to walk far. I’ll be back when its raining less!

No Toilets Available While Cleaning?

We visited Hunter's Moon as first time motor-homers recently, and were initially a bit confused about the pricing, as we didn't have any internet connection while travelling, and having referred to the book, were surprised to be charged more upon arrival than we had expected. We asked for an explanation for this, but the female warden seemed somewhat put out, and appeared to have taken our question personally, as if we were accusing her of something, whereas all we wanted, was to know if there was a way that we could clarify the price before ringing up to book in. We were however, pleased to be offered assistance with how to do our first ever EHU, and the male warden put himself out to come and check that we were OK, and knew what we were doing. The one thing that we were a bit taken aback about, was that one of the toilet blocks was locked as of early November, which appeared to mean that when cleaning was taking place in the one remaining open block, there were no facilities to use. We may have been mistaken about this, and would be happy to be corrected if there was a toilet available. However, we did note that at 2 other sites which we used while away, there was a separate toilet made available during cleaning times. If this isn't the case at Hunter's Moon, then they really need to make at least one toilet available, if they're only going to have one block open. Overall we were very happy with our first night on a club site, so much so that we stayed on for a second!

Good location

Could be a lovely site but needs attention to detail! Toilets were cleaned every day…..not to the published times though! None of the corners were mopped though, nowhere was swept, generally grungy, I don’t think the washing up area was cleaned at all, the bin was very smelly and dirty all round it. Travellers dogs next door were noisy. Location was great though, particularly for walkers/cyclists. Oh and the sainsburys in wareham is NOT Motorhome friendly!!! Much better to drive to the Asda in Poole.
