Shop local - or eat local - we did a lot!

This is a big site and has as many pitches are squeezed on as possible. The club house and entertainment are not our thing, we tried it one night, great for a drink on site but I suspect the food is mainly processed and not homemade - ok if that is your thing but seamed popular, our appetites are bigger too. We did have a noisy neighbour who had two dogs but just left them in cages while they whimpered, why have dogs to keep them in cages. We have a dog and everything we do is based around if the dog can go. The bus stop at the site entrance was always busy but as it was so warm we didn't want to risk the dog overheating and us being stuck somewhere so we stuck to the car on this trip. My best piece of advice for visitors to this site would be to buy a ferry saver ticket to cross over to Dartmouth. There is a large sign at the ferry saying a return is £10. But if you read the other board you can buy 20 singles for £20 and 30 for £30 etc, much better and means you can go over to Dartmouth every day. We found some great independent dog friendly cafes in Dartmouth (Cafe Alf Fresco, Anchorstone (one in Dittisham too), Dart to Mouth Deli, a great independent butcher near the market, and in Brixham if you go further out towards Berry Head there is the Breakwater Bistro, Schoalstone cafe at the Lido, Guardhouse Cafe at Berry Head, also in Brixham a great fishmonger to the left of the Curious Kitchen and small bakery to the right, with a black front, for bread and scones - get to both early though and David's Fish and Chips we better than anything on the Brixham front, on Bolton Street. Dartmouth is closer to site and has more to offer with think, can't wait to return. Loved going for a swim everyday. (All places I have mentioned are on google maps if you zoom in). Don't go to the 'Farm Shop' in the file in the info room - its just an expensive supermarket. Go the local fishmonger in Brixham and butcher in Dartmouth instead if you are having a BBQ. I have given all five stars as the site can not control the people who are next to you, thankfully we were due to leave after a few days so we didn't have them for long. And I have no idea what they plugged in but the noise coming from their pitch was ridiculous, people need to consider others more. All in all great site and we will return in the quieter seasons maybe, if this site has one, the wardens couldn't get to the pitches fast enough for a quick bush trim before the next people arrived! Did feel sorry for the lifeguards round the pool think they need some shelter from the sun and rain, the poor lad was sat there in full sun all day - I couldn't have done it in the heat wave we are currently having.
