Good for families

Not disabled friendly and more suited to families with children.

We have just spent the end of May Bank Holiday weekend at Hillhead. Our welcome was very friendly and welcoming. The pitch we found was on the opposite side to the children's play area and far enough away from the pool for us, the views were beautiful and to sit and listen to the birds singing and watching the rabbits around was great We had a lovely meal up in the restaurant where you were allowed to take dogs in one part undercover which was great, good food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Unfortunately that is where our good experience ended, it is not at all disabled friendly at all, no pitches on the level near the shower blocks which do have great disabled facilities, but if you are not too near you are stuck due to the steep inclines. Then there are the children, we have stayed at sites with children before, but this was the worst. Kids on bikes, scooters, motorpowered skateboards and electric cart things constantly going up and down the hill past our motorhome, which then set our dog off barking not content with that they kept stopping there making him worse! They have a park use it! Or play outside their pitch where the parents are, people moan about dogs making noise this was kids being annoying and not watched by their parents.

if you ring the site before you go and ask the warden's to reserve a disabled pitch then you will be nearer to the disabled facilties, as to the children with (electric powered scooters etc they are not allowed on club sites perhaps a chat to the wardens re this issue.

Sounds a nice site, sorry your pitch was too far from the facility's you required. I don't mind seeing and hearing children having a good time and meeting new friends, it helps develop social skills. As for the dog I have seen many dogs on sites that completely ignore all the noises and goings on you would expect at a holiday location, hopefully in the future your dog will learn to tolerate these things.
