An excellent site!

This is a first class site in all respects. "Peace and quiet" was the only item that I scored less than 5 and that is because the site is next to the busy road between Henley and Marlow. Having said that, we did not find the noise at all intrusive. The facilities are extremely well appointed and were beautifully clean. The site is within easy walking distance to Henley and also convenient for Marlow. Thoroughly recommend walking from the site to Henley and then on the Thames path to Shiplake (upriver) where The Baskerville offers a warm welcome and excellent bar snacks. Will most certainly be making further visits to Henley Four Oaks, as it is convenient for attending matches at Twickenham and spending time in the Thames Valley (where we used to live). Mike Smith

Only one this year

Only club sites I've visited this year due to escalating prices. Second visit to this site which is convenient for Henley and on the bus route for Maidenhead in one direction and Reading in the other. Greys Court NT house is a few miles away. The walk into town takes about fifteen minutes but requires crossing a fairly busy road as the path is not continuous. The site is like many CAMC sites and is not in itself distinctive, having the character of a McDonalds - you could be anywhere. Pitches close to the road are not recommended for light sleepers. The MH service point is not exactly user friendly and still requires the deployment of hoses to discharge grey waste.

Nice site and location, but showers need curtains

Nice site and location, but showers need curtains. These are the only showers I have ever known where there are no curtains in the showers, or dividing wall behind which you can keep your clothes out of the spray from the shower head. Yes, it's possible to keep one's clothes dry, by only by taking great care.

Excellent Site, highly recommended

Visited site midweek and cannot find fault! Fantastic Warden who was friendly and knowledgeable, spotless facilities and good location. Close by Marlow to Henley road with excellent local bus service which also runs Reading to High Wycombe. Both towns are picturesque and well worth a walk along the Thames. Only concern is that may not be enough for families close by, although Legoland is not too far away! Thanks!!

Great site: pitch away from road

As other reviewers say, this is a great site, helpful wardens, spotless facilities and great location. This is our second visit. But road is noisy! The site is on the changeover from 40mph to 60mph and most cars are doing the latter speed. Motorbikes love doing the Thameside run and we were woken by farm tractors - very noisy at max speed. There's not much you can do about a road - but some of the pitches are further away and best to choose one of these if you can.

Nice location shame about the road

The site was very clean and tidy and the wardens couldn't, have been more helpful. The only down side is the noise from the road.

Needs some TLC

Just spent a week at Henley and had a lovely time. We were relieved that grass pitches were not being used as the amount of rainfall in the area meant the grassed areas were very soggy. The area is gorgeous - riverside walks with views to die for. Lovely town. Walk up to Marsh Lock was great for watching cruisers and narrow boats going through the lock. Marlow was lovely, again riverside walks and a lovely town. Windsor is always nice for a day out. Lots of eateries in and around Henley and if you want cheap and cheerful the Catherine Wheel whetherspoons pub in the town is spotless and the food was a cut above the normal wetherspoons fayre. The site itself needs some money spending on it. As a previous reviewer said the road running through the site is the worst I have ever seen on a CMC site - potholes, too narrow and generally in a poor state. The hard standings need to be refurbished and more added - surely it would be more cost effective to do this than have to close off a large number of pitches for half the year due to them being unusable grass pitches. This is a lovely site in a lovely area, it's open all year, well used, and deserves to have some investment to ensure that it remains a favourite for members.

One to avoid

This site is one to avoid for every reason other than its location. We made the mistake of staying for three nights over the recent Bank Holiday weekend and were thoroughly disappointed in the overall state of the place. As you might imagine, the site was virtually full when we arrived at 4pm on the Friday so we had no option other than have one of the remaining pitches at the bottom of the site right next to the road. The noise from this road is absolutely ridiculous, with every biker thinking they are Valentino Rossi attempting to hit 100 mph as they leave the 30 limit about 500 yards down the road. It is constant - 5am to 11pm every day. In addition, the Club should be ashamed of the state of the internal site access roads - which are a disgrace. Finally, the idiot who thought of putting silly chain link fencing randomly between and opposite certain pitches should be shot - they clearly have not thought of those of us in SUV's (very common these days), who cannot see them below the window line. Pull your socks up Caravan Club - this is not good enough!

Disappointed

Visited this site in July with our granddaughter, thank goodness it was only for one night. We found the road noise excessive and it didn't stop all night, Not the easiest of walks into Henley with children. Also found the warden to be particularly unhelpful and not very polite. Needless to say we won't be visiting this site again.
