Half term Henley

We have been to this site before and it is easy to find, well kept and clean. The wardens have a warm welcome and work hard to keep the site clean. The toilet and washing facilities are good, but the shower cubicals are quire small even the modified for disabled one. The roads are very narrow on site so there can be issues with blocking the road when pitching up. There are a number of grass pitches here most of which are located to the rear of hard standings so some maneovering required to pitch on them. This site also suffers when it rains heavily due to its location by the Thames, so some pitches do collect the water and the grass becomes soft. Its location is very good - 10/15 mins to Henley with good shops and nice pubs. We ventured to Legoland and Thorpe park, both about 40 mins drive. The site can be a little noisy from the road at the front and there is a constant droan of a water pumping station at the rear but you usually only noise this when it turns off and there is quiet for half an hour. The wildlife on the site is amazing with rabbits, Kites, ducks, geese. If you are an aeroplane lover there are some low flying aircraft into/ out of Heathrow, quite interesting to watch. Its location makes this site worth visiting for a short break and if you are out and about all day. For a quite relaxing longer break its probably not ideal.

Great place to stay

A wonderful, and well-equipped site with warm and friendly staff. The facilities are great and the place is spotless. it is peaceful with great surroundings, the only issue is if you get a pitch at the front, the road can be busy and a little noisy. Lots of walks and Henly is just a short 15-20 minute away with some wonderfully quaint shops. We had a great two days here and will visit again.

Lovely Thames Valley

Henley Four Oaks is a good site for exploring this part of the Thames Valley. Henley is reasonably short walk away. From here you can walk along the river, take a boat trip or wander through the town. There is also an excellent bus service between Reading and High Wycombe which stops at both Henley and Marlow so handy for members who want to leave their vehicles on site. There are a couple of downsides to this site. Mainly it is the noise from the adjacent road which can be very intrusive. Fortunately it calms down a bit through the night. Not sure there is anything to be done about this or at least anything that would be effective. From a motorhomers perspective the motorhome waste point is far from good. Not only does it require a heavy drain cover to be removed but the actual drain is poorly positioned. In order to position the motorhome waste point over the drain you have to block the site road. The conversion of motorhome waste points is taking far too long.

Lovely Easter break!

We had a week’s break in the Easter holiday. A lovely week with some pretty places to visit locally Henley, Marlow, Little Marlow, Cookham to name a few. Some nice places to eat The Little Angel in Henley & Burgers in Marlow. We visited 2 fantastic National Trust properties which were relatively close to Henley, Nuffield Place & Greys Court. Henley station is great providing a regular service in to London & the station carpark is a decent size with reasonable charges. There are some considerations & possible site improvements however. It would seem pooling is possible on some pitches during wet weather so choose wisely, with constant rain or heavy showers the main road & site entrance ends up submerged under water, with a big vehicle towing a long caravan the inner site roads are quite narrow manoeuvring space is tight & turning in to the pitch can be tricky all of which makes it nearly impossible not to touch the grass so in wet weather tyres will damage these areas. Be aware some main roads are tight we found the Caravan Club directions to be very helpful. Henley Four Oaks is a brilliant base to explore from.

2nd trip

We had a two night stay at Four oaks and found it to be a great site. Other people have reported problems with finding it using satnav, ours took us straight there. Greeted by very friendly wardens, booking in was simple. It is only a small site therefore finding a pitch is painless. The pitch we had was large, hard standing with ehu and tv aerial socket. We were close to the toilet/shower block and this facility was brilliant and kept very clean throughout the day. Other reviewers have reported problems with the road noise but to us it wasn't really an issue. It is only a 20 minute walk into the lovely town of Henley. Although there is a footpath it is poorly maintained ( overgrown ) by the local authority. My wife uses a motobility scooter so this was a bit of an issue. In the town we went to the Angel on the bridge pub where we and our dog were warmly greeted. The staff were very friendly and we had a lovely meal there. Four oaks is a lovely, well kept site and we will look forward to visiting again in the future.

Highlight Henley

Great Site, amenable and extremely helpful Site Staff. Great location a short walk to Henley, but a little awkward to walk on footpaths to the river drectly. Only draw back is noisy traffic if you are near the road and an electrical sub station at the rear of the site near the toilet block caused a sort of humming noise that was difficult to block out at night. Other than that we with Friends had a really great snowy weekend.

Winter stop over on way from Anglesey to S.E.Kent

We were due to arrive late and in the dark and snow, the staff were friendly and efficient and got us off to our pitch quickly. The site was pleasantly quiet the night we stayed even though there is a main road outside. The toilet and shower block was modern, clean and best of all warm during a very cold spell of weather. Arrangement of pitches was good within trees and gave the appearance of being out in the country rather than close to Henley. Access off the road is wide and easy and you only need a tag to raise the barrier on leaving, not on entry so that is really helpful As a bit of advice, those using the Caravan Club approved Sat Nav when coming down the M40 from the North - don't use it the system! Iit often does takes you through B roads that are twisty and narrow and aren't good! We arrived at night and it took us across B roads from the M40 even though I had it set for directions towing a long caravan with a large Volvo estate car - I suggest access from Henley is far easier (which was the way we left.)

Winter weekender

This was our first visit and it won't be our last. Site is everything you would expect. We had a quiet pitch away from the road and were treated to sightings of buzzards, kites and a woodpecker. It was great being able to walk in to Henley and we appreciated the good mix of small shops and the huge variety of eateries. Can recommend the Catherine Wheel (Weatherspoon) for a no-nonsense meal and the place itself is steeped in history. We tried to visit Marlow on the Saturday but gave up trying to find somewhere to park our Transit Duetto. Instead, we stumbled across the wonderful little village of Hambledon, which was lovely for a walk around and a coffee in the village store. We will definitely use the Henley site again sometime for further exploration.

Enjoyable stay

Had a very enjoyable stay on this really nice site. Typical caravan Club facilities and located 20 minute walk from Henley on Thames. Lots of ( upmarket) shops, restaurants and pubs in Henley wand some excellent walks along the Thames. Marlow which is 20 minutes drive away is also work a visit. As highlighted in other reviews site is adjacent to busy road but there are a number of oitches away from the road. Notwithstanding this it does become much quieter in the evening/ overnight Noting the comment made in earlier review about curtains - there were curtains in the showers during our visit
