Wardens that go beyond
Wardens going one step beyond (5 stars)
We recently collected a new (to us) motorhome in Halifax and stayed for one night at Hebdon-Bridge Club Site. Unfortunately during transit our motor home was involved in an accident, sustaining quite a bit of significant damage. One of the site wardens "Helen" arrived after the accident and came over to try and help. When we arrived and booked in Warden “Neil” had a cup of tea ready for us which was lovey. After booking in our motorhome failed to start, Neil used his car to pull our motorhome out of the entrance (which we were blocking) and onto a side pitch. Neil and Helen then loaned us two chairs and let us use their phone (as my mobile wasn’t working) to call our rescue service “Green Flag”.
An hour and half later the Green Flag technician arrived and diagnosed an alternator fault, he also suggested because of the damage that we didn’t drive it any further, but he managed to get the vehicle started, where-upon Neil then put us on a pitch where our motorhome could be easily winched onto a breakdown truck. The accident had ripped the awning rail from the side of the vehicle, and I had put this inside through the back window, Neil kindly helped me move this heavy item back out of the vehicle so we could move around inside. Neil then brought out a step ladder and taped up the accident damage to the roof for us to make it as weatherproof as we could. We settled down for the night.
The following morning I contacted the Green Flag and arranged for the motorhome to be transported to our home, Green Flag also arranged an “Enterprise” car so we could get home; Green Flag told us that they had arranged for Enterprise to pick us up and take us to their depot. The Green Flag transporter arrived and we off loaded all our belongings onto the pitch and awaited the pickup. I then phoned numerous times to find out from Enterprise when our pickup would arrive, but no one was answering the phone. Eventually after phoning (the sales line this time) some one answered and told me they did not pick up people (despite their adverts saying the opposite). By now we had been waiting over an hour, Neil came over and I described what was happening and asked if he could recommend a taxi cab. Neil insisted on taking us to the depot himself, which he subsequently did. Our final memories of Hebdon Bridge Site was of Neil helping us to load all our gear into the hire car and saying goodbye to two lovely Wardens who had really gone beyond our expectations in helping us out of a horrible situation. During our brief stay we had a chance to go around the site and can only say good things about how it was managed and run, it is a tribute to the Club and to the hard work and dedication put into making it this way by Helen and Neil. The site is lovely and quiet at night which after our experience was a blessing. We can highly recommend this site to anyone staying in this area.
