Rest & Recuperation
Hebden Bridge CC site is the closest to home and one of our favourite get away sites. On this occasion our planned long August Bank Holiday weekend turned into a 21 night stay as my wife received notification that awaited surgery had been scheduled just prior to the weekend so we decided to make the most of the caravan and the site.
I have reviewed the site previously – we come on average 3 to 4 times a year for weekends- and it remains a haven of peace and tranquillity whilst being close to local amenities. Yes you can hear road noise in most parts of the site but nothing to drown out the sound of the burbling stream that marks the boundary of the site along the bottom edge. Waking to the sound of the stream and the bird song was a great aid to my wifes rest and recuperation whilst she recovered from surgery.
The site is maintained to the highest standards with a good selection of walks from site passing a variety of pubs offering different standards/style of food. The local bus stops directly outside the site taking a few minutes to the centre of Hebden Bridge.
Over the last two years the success of this site has in the largest part been down to the wardens Helen & Ian Wright who are hard working, dedicated wardens who take a pride in the job and the Caravan Club. This dedication reflects across all areas of their role be it site maintenance, membership care and tourist information. They are friendly, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.
I was very disappointed to hear that they were retiring earlier than planned as full time wardens, although sweetened by the fact they will be working as relief wardens on the site in 2016, as I believe losing wardens of this calibre is a trend the CC can ill afford. These type of knowledgeable, experienced wardens who have an excellent rapport with members are part of the fabric of the CC I have known since becoming a member. It will be the CC’s, and its members loss if these breed of wardens aren’t provided with the support and encouragement to continue in a job they love or loved.
Many thanks Helen & Ian for all your hard work and dedication in making Hebden Bridge CC a wonderful place to stay.
