Not changed for the better.
We have visited the Mytholmroyd site (2.6 miles from Hebden Bridge) several times and love the location but some of the 'improvements' (the club's words not mine) leave a lot to be desired. Until the bank holiday weekend, the serviced pitches had few takers, the new office is now on what we thought was the better part of the site and a few new chippings aren't worth the money.
I feel I have to comment on the office hours - 5 hours a day isn't enough. Be there by 1pm or you won't see a warden. We only met one and she was quite abrupt. When she asked if we'd been before and received a positive answer, I felt she didn't want to know. From there on, I only received yes/ no answers. We pitched in view of the office and on more than one occasion it closed early as the wardens drove off. Clearly they had somewhere to be! It wasn't on site.
On a positive note, this is one of our favourite sites, print off a few walks from google and you'll save a fortune. Mytholmroyd is still struggling to cope with the aftermath of the floods a couple of years ago and the traffic issues associated with road/bridge/river bank works cause problems. The bridge over the river is narrow as is the road beyond it. We met a mighty lorry and had severe problems (new clutch for our next visit) and speaking to others we were not alone. The roads in and around Halifax are having a major overhaul with many signs hidden or missing. Don't use the sat nav - we've made that mistake in the past.
This does sound like one big moan, but we had a lovely time. Please go and visit. The locals have had a hard time and need our custom. See 'U Tube' - Mytholmroyd Floods.
