I return here often

We visited at the end of July/beginning of August. We like this site a lot and come often. It's a small compact site in Cragg Vale. Sandwiched between the road and a river in a steep sided valley , which is very characteristic of this area of Calderdale. Public footpaths abound but be prepared for some stiff climbs on them up onto the hills out of the valley bottoms. It's nearest to Mytholmroyd. Hebden bridge is a good walk up the valley. Hebden is a popular place, quirky and characterful, but as it is lying in a very steep valley, parking and vehicular access is at a premium. Luckily there's a good bus service to it from the site gate and a good rail link through the Calder valley from Mytholmroyd to Hebden Bridge ,Halifax and Bradford. No toilet block, long may it stay that way. The service pitches are a welcome addition and helpful to those of us that struggle to lug water back and forth. The long grass was a precaution to stop lazy campers walking between the pitches to the service point. A necessary precaution for Covid Social Distancing. In normal times it is mown and kept tidy. I quite liked it long as the wildflowers had chance to bloom. . My only gripe and therefore the loss of a star, is the condition of the site access roads. Some nasty potholes can catch you unawares and shake your unit up badly if you're not careful. The pitches close to the road can be noisy from the traffic and many of these have quite a slope too. The rest of the site level spacious is fairly tranquil. (So long as the inevitable yapping doggies behave !). Phone and data signal for 3 is good. Service pitches have TV hook up. It's a little gem in a cracking area. We will be back.
