My 2 Collies favourite Club dog walking site
Best on-site dog exercise area of all the Club sites I've visited so far. Superb area for coastal and downland walks, walked c. 45 miles in 3 &a half days this year. There's even some of the old ruins that Cromwell knocked about a bit if piles of stones are your thing. I'd never visited Corfe Castle on previous visits and was surprised what an interesting history it had, the dogs weren't so bothered though. Excellent local bus services ( for those who can be bothered to walk 10 mins. up or down the hill to access them) with timetables available from the friendly and helpful site staff. I didn't need to use the Mobile Dog Kennel once this year from arrival to departure, the joys of my 1st. season with a Wrinklie/ Twirly pass. The steam trains chugging up and down are an added attraction even though my trainspotting days ended 53 years ago with the end of steam on BR. Wareham's a pleasant enough little town to stop off for a pint or two and there are some reasonable enough pubs in nearby villages. For me, though, the best of the lot and one of my all-time favourite pubs throughout the land is the Square & Compass at Worth Matravers which is just over half an hour's walk up the hill and across the fields and perhaps why I will always find time to revisit Haycraft.
