Great stay at Haycraft in our motorhome.
We enjoyed our stay on this excellent site. It is small, well laid out and beautifully kept. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean and worked well. Delightful wardens who are working safely and efficiently and our thanks for all their hard work. Our stay was for 3 nights at the end of September in mixed weather.
We like to park our motor home then use buses wherever possible and this site suited us well for this way of getting around. We caught the number 40 bus into Swanage at 9.33am (perfect for bus pass use). Turn left out of the site and walk up the road up a steep hill for around 15 minutes at a steady plod then at the junction turn right and the bus stop is just a few yards along. (Post box there also). The bus takes around 15 minutes into Swanage. It returns to Haycrafts Lane on the hour from the station and the first day we stayed on the bus back and went on to Wareham for a wander (nice walk along the river too) and then back on the bus again to Corfe for a wander and a nice cream tea at the Model Village cafe. The 40 route is Swanage to Poole.
The second day we caught the same bus into Swanage then took the 50 at 10.25 from the station to Bournemouth. The 50 is half open topped upstairs and takes the route via the ferry across to Sandbanks, a lovely route of about an hour with great views of Brownsea Island from the ferry (you are not allowed off the bus). Stops at Studland Beach and the ferry point for Brownsea Island at the Sandbanks side of the ferry along the way. Times and service may change in the winter so do check.
Good walks from the site I would think but the weather was showery so we didn’t follow any of the paths. The information hut was open and had helpful leaflets etc. We look forward to returning to the site as it was a lovely stay.
