Good for families

You need a car

I travelled here alone at the start of August, looking for peace and quiet and some good cycling and walking. When I arrived, the wardens were extremely helpful and had marked a pitch for my large motorhome. The site is very well kept and there is an excellent dog walk on site, running through woodland and by the side of a stream. There are some lovely, quiet grass pitches in the annex to the site across the lane, but these were unfortunately not in use during my stay due to the amount of rain.  You really do need a car if you stay here. I couldn't find most of the footpaths marked nearby on the OS map and cycling was physically tough around the many steep, single-track lanes near the site. Nonetheless, the scenery was beautiful and this was worth the effort. Other members were out and about every day. Apparently the red kite feeding is spectacular and you can park on the sandy beach at Borth. Would I visit again? Yes, but not without a car. My attempts to hire one in Newtown were unsuccessful.
