Shame about the lack of signage re one-way rules

Nice enough site. Spoilt for us by lack of advice re one-way rules on site. On booking in we were not advised that there was a one-way system; we were given the usual map and told to look for a pitch, which we did. Having driven round, and decided on a pitch we had passed at the beginning of our "tour", we could not see how to get out, the barrier was down. So we turned round and went back, incurring the wrath of a fellow-caravanner who showed his displeasure by shouting, which we could not hear as we had the windows closed, and given his angry expression we were not inclined to open them! I should add at this point that the "road" is quite wide with ample room for the turning manoeuvre. We did not know at that point what his problem was, only thought of this when we had pitched and cooled down. When I took this up with the warden/assistant warden later, I was told that if we had gone closer to the barrier it would have opened automatically. I then looked to see if there was any signage we had missed; couldn't find any. There are no arrows on the site map we were given, no signs to indicate a one-way route at all. As you can tell, it wasn't the best start to our break. Otherwise the campsite is fine, and no doubt if you go there regularly you will know all the rules. We probably won't be back.
