Peace and quiet - perfect

If you want peace & quiet then this site is for you. We enjoyed some quality time together - our dog enjoyed the walks and we enjoyed the chance to catch-up on some reading. Not recommended for families as facilities are limited, however the beach a stones throw and Yarmouth entertainment is not far away should you require it. Shower block and toilet facilities really clean and easily accessible.

Racecourse Great Yarmouth

After a long journey on a Friday from North Devon it was fantastic to be able to just arrive at the Late Night Arrivals area plug in the electric cable and go to bed. The washroom area was the cleanest we have ever been to. Judy was extremely welcoming and so helpful on the telephone. We will definitely return and would recommend this site to anyone without hesitation. Thank you

Dog walk needed

We stayed for 6 nights and found this site to be adequate, toilet block clean, site very quite, but needed a bit of tiding. Our main complaint was the amount of people who instead of exercising their dogs OFFSITE as requested decided it was OK to walk round the grass areas of the site with no consideration for others and allowing their dogs to mess anywhere, ok they pick it up with their plastic bags, but who wants to sit having breakfast with a dog making a sometimes sloppy stinking mess outside. Some people did take their dogs straight offsite ,fair play to them, but many did not, so I would say either install a dog walk, or enforce the clearly stated rule of no onsite exercising much more strictly.

Fantastic for the Novice and more.

Superb site, settled in the centre of Yarmouth Racecourse. The staff are all friendly and helpful, the cleanliness and general presentation on the site is super. Maybe could do with a Games room, but as we were within half a mile of the seafront and super beach, then not really an issue. Yarmouth itself is relatively peaceful for a major seaside town and warrants better than it gets. I will be visiting this site regularly in the future.

Another great relax and re-charging long weekend

Had another visit here as it's close enough to home for a weekend. The resident wardens Judy and Eddie had gone off for their well deserved days off, but the relief wardens were equally nice. The site is always beautifully kept and the facilities immaculate. Short walk to the dunes, which are alive with skylarks and nesting terns. We even saw the Eric the seal between the wind farm and Britannia pier. The dunes lead onto the beach and great walks to Yarmouth 40 minutes or Caister about the same in the opposite direction. Bus stop into Yarmouth almost outside the site and the road train runs along the coast road between The nearby Haven site and Yarmouth. Also met the police horses having a stretch after their journey up from Thames Valley ready for the local football derby of Norwich v Ipswich who were stabled on the race course.

Best in Norfolk.

A nice, clean & friendly site on the northern edge of Great Yarmouth. Friendly & helpful wardens. Chip van visits twice a week. The pitches are almost level and the centre 'block' are quite roomy, I didn't however like the 2 row arrangement on the peripheral pitches, so would be disappointed if these were the only ones available when I arrived. The toilet/shower blocks are very clean & tidy, with roomy cubicles. The pub that was at the end of the road by the sand dunes / grassland has closed down so no local eateries within a short walk, About a mile into town and plenty of choice for eating and drinking.

The reason for the title of best in Norfolk is that my experience has been that most places on Norfolk are on a mission to take every last penny they squeeze from you, like charging £2.50 to park at a beach on north norfolk coast which is little more than loose rubble. and have pubs charge restaurant prices for preheated food that came off the back of a lorry. Here you can park on the seafront for free and have a decent beach to walk on, have a good choice of eating places &  Its dog friendly.

Bank Holiday Weekend at GY

Just had a great bank holiday weekend at Great Yarmouth (pardon the pun). The journey to GY is an easy drive / tow along good wide roads. The entrance to the site reception is easy to get to providing you arrive post 12.00. The previous reviews praising the wardens are spot-on – you will find a very warm relaxed welcome from practical wardens who understand the differing challenges and requirements of our caravan community. The site feels very wide and open and with our 9m motorhome it was easy to navigate to our desired pitch. Not all pitches are level; but we can recommend 101. The MWP is easy to access and the toilet block; plus wider facilities, are to the usual CC standard. Ice Cream man visits daily and fish & chip man turned up on Saturday – however, our waistline reduction plan barred us from sampling what was on offer ?. A 5-minute easterly walk and you arrive on the grassland that preempts the beach – fantastic for dog walking and viewing the shipping lanes. Some fellow campers opted for the local taxi service that took them into the heart of GY or Caister to enjoy the wider delights of the seaside. As we are less than 50 miles away this is a site we will continue to visit and hopefully we will time our next visit with a race meeting. We recommend you give this site a try.

Relaxing long weekend

Spent a long weekend here, our second visit. Fantastic welcoming non intrusive wardens who keep the site extremely clean and tidy. Location is great, bus stop opposite the entrance, short walk to the dunes which are alive with larks and crested larks singing for all they are worth, along with lots of other birds. Endless beach walks to Yarmouth itself half an hourish. with all the attractions of the front or lovely historic walk of the old town and a visit to the steam fishing boat, plus plenty more. Or off to Caister and beyond. There is a large Haven site nearby which may allow visitors. We also got to see Eric the seal who is a regular visitor - he was between the wind turbines and Britannia pier. The site is very quiet, the nearby helipad, which wasn't overly noisy, has gone so no noise at all. Eddie and Judy are really laid back and the whole atmosphere is relaxing - shame you have to leave it behind and return to the rat race. I'm sure we'll be back, hopefully when there is some racing.
