A great second visit

Our second visit to GY this year, due to the wife's mum being taken ill and admitted to nearby James Paget hospital; therefore we booked in for six days. We again experienced the nice GY warden welcome and their great practical marshalling of this lovely site. Access to the site is easy for new or experienced caravanners and with a 9 meter motorhome it was no problem to access and pitch - in our case next to a 11 meter RV. Facilities were up to mustard even though the site was full; plus with the short walk to the beach our two labs were kept entertained. Caister fish n chips (there is a visiting chip van on a Friday) and Chinese delivery to the site from GY impacted the waistline to say the least. A bonus of seeing some racehorses testing the new £300K track on the Sunday before we left made a sad stay at GY a nice stay. We will return again next year.

A nice little site

We enjoyed 3 night stay on this site. Everything was lovely and clean with really helpful staff. There is a little park for the kiddies to play on with a field next to that for ball games. It does however need some tactical positioning by car or some big muscles to get into place in some areas as they are rather tight pitches... All in all a mice sight very close to the sea front and the promenade...

Pretty good stay

Enjoyed this site however felt overcrowded. Frustrated by the very uneaven pitches which resulted in me trying to level my van on 3 pitches before finding one suitable. No WiFi however a first for caravan club sites was a decent mobile signal!!

Good location

Nice site, good facilities,no need to move motor home, bus stop nearby and connection in town to Lowestoft,Southwold,Norwich etc.Site feels overcrowded in parts. My main gripe is inconsiderate dog owners who walk along slowly and stand and wait until their dog toilets .on the grass in front of your outfit.Yuk.

My Bad Choice Of Pitch

Just spent 3 nights at this site on arrival told the site was pretty full, made the mistake of choosing pitch 18 which is pretty close to the children's play area young kids were enjoying themselves no problems. Then when we got back after tea there were half a dozen 10 to 12 year olds had climbed over the perimeter fence kicking footballs on the outside of the play area most annoying asked them to stop when one of the footballs hit my van a couple of times they totally ignored me and only laughed parents don't seem to be bothered either.

Great stay at Great Yarmouth.

We found this site suited us quite well. You can catch the bus just outside the racecourse into Yarmouth right into the centre where there's plenty of shopping There's also a great Sunday car boot just around the corner which is well worth a visit. A fish and chip van calls on Friday too on site. Of course there's the beach just a short walk away.  We found it a nice walk along the front from the pier back to the site which took us approximately 45 mins at a leisurely pace.  The wardens were very friendly and helpful with information. The toilet and shower block very clean with plenty of hot adjustable water. Considering we went in the school holidays it was quieter than I expected.  We enjoyed it so much that we will definitely go back again.

Great Yarmouth

We had the pleasure of staying at this site recently for a week. As this was a very first time in our campervan, we found the staff extremely helpful, and fellow holiday makers willing to give us advice.  The site was lovely, toilet and shower blocks very well maintained, good location for getting into Yarmouth, and for getting about, would definitely go back to this site.  Well done to all staff for keeping the very high standard on this site.

Many years since I was last here and very pleased that it is still well maintained and the toilet block always looks clean. The Wardens, Eddie and Judy, welcoming and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them, also knowledgeable about the local area. One downside, as mentioned in another review, the number of barking and yapping dogs plus children riding bikes at a fair speed going the wrong way down the road and the footpath leading to the toilet block. If you want a reasonably priced, home made, meal then try The Avenue pub, 200mtrs from site entrance - well worth a try! K&M from cambs

Seasoal variations

Reading past reviews, I noticed how the time of year seemed to affect the review. I arrived at the start of the school holidays and pitched at the far end of the site. By 6pm, more units arrived and then gave me the impression of a cramped site. I'm not sure the space from the back of mine to the unit behind me was enough by the rules. From where I was pitched there were 7 rows of units back to back. I can agree with many of the poor comments about the site. In fact, at times, I had thoughts of how a travellers' encampment would feel. No chickens but quite a few free range children. Not for me.
