Nice Site but location is Pretty Limited

When we first arrived we were lucky enough to get a pitch next to our son, so we set up and were happy with our lot. Bearing in mind the last 3 or 4 sites we have used have been private and we had forgotten the bizarre club rules with regard to wind breaks. So within 15 minutes we were informed that we had to move our wind breaks as they were against club rules….. not the wardens fault just very difficult to understand …The site itself is nice, good sized level pitches, electric works well. Showers and toilets clean although I would imagine it would struggle if the site was busy as there were only 4 male showers….. wardens were great. There are 2 great dog walks if you are happy not to go far, one inside the camp which is much bigger than normal, then you have a key to a gate which lets you access a playing field at the back which is huge. So if you are happy not going too far this is ideal. However if you like doing longer dog walks the location is not great, to get onto the West coast path you either have to walk on or by very busy roads which is fine if your dogs are OK with Lorrie’s etc but one of ours isn’t. You really need a car or camper to access the best parts of the area as the buses are next to useless as the roads are so bad, I would not bother with going to the Mumbles as it is a building site, they are replacing the sea barriers. Rosihli beach is stunning and a must if you come here, but it’s a 40 minute drive, the Welsh footpaths are terrible, many are unusable ( not the first time..), not much in Gowerton. The other thing that irritates me with club sites is this nonsense of putting the bins at the furthest point away from everyone, what was wrong with someone wizzing around in the buggy picking the rubbish up in the morning? Not sure how the old or those less mobile cope with a 1/2 mile walk to the bins…… In summary the site is nice but the location requires your own transport.
