Great for Cycling

The site was very peaceful and the wardens were all very friendly and helpful. As soon as you go out of the site, onto the road, this joins the National Cycle Route 4, which takes you to Llanelli and beyond in one direction, and to Swansea Bay if you cycle tho other way. Swansea Bay is a great place to cycle to, with many places to eat and rest. The views on all of the cycle/walking routes are really lovely, mostly following the Welsh Coastal path. The tracks are good to walk and ride, largely flat too, which is a bonus. There is a lovely park when you arrive at Llanelli, and from there you can divert from NCR route 4 onto route 47 and this takes you up a slow constant gradient to a place called Tumble, then the Celtic trail beyond that. You can easily get food supplies from the shops at Gowerton, but we didn't find Gowerton had much else to offer. The walk from the site to the castle ruin at Loughor is very nice and the views of the sea inlet at Lougher are very pleasant. There is a cafe there at the boatyard, serving refreshments and food. This is a good site to stay at, and we feel you definitely need your own transport ( car or cycle) to visit the lovely surrounding area, otherwise use public transport.
