Just spent 7 night on what is a lovely site. The wardens are brilliant, helpful, considerate and most important flexible.
Pros. Lovely site. Good size pitches. Nice position. Great wardens. Clean facilities. Good options like excellency fish and chips on Friday and Saturdays.
Cons. Toiilet/shower inadequate fir number of pitches.queued every day for toiltets, showers, wash cubicles. Members driving wrong way around site. Double parking on pitches. And my pet hate, walking across pitches. I paid for my pitch not so others can use it as a short cut to the showers.
The site is in need of some capital expenditure. The wardens do a great job to present a lovely facade but everything is tired. Spend a small amount and ,a,e a great site a 5* site,
.
What a lovely little site this is, the wardens were very friendly and helpful. The site and it's facilities were kept spotless. My only gripe with the facilities is that only 5 showers in the ladies is not enough, I had to wait behind 2 or 3 people four days in a row!!. The ludicrous thing is that there is another shower block but it was kept closed, it's really not good enough for a site this size. The area was lovely with some lovely little bays to visit.
This quiet site is of the usual high standard we have come to expect from the Caravan and Motorhome Club. The pitches are level and are in well kept surroundings. The pitches are quite exposed with no hedges or fences to offer any privacy. The staff are all friendly and try to be helpful. Our big disappointment was caused by the club's misleading advertising of this site. "Ideal for beach holidays" , the main photo on the site's website shows children playing on a vast beach. This led us to believe that there would be beaches within walking distance. It is in fact over 5 miles to the nearest beach!!! This suggests that the club has only thought about Caravan campers' access with cars rather than the other fifty percent of the membership who stay in motorhomes and need easy access to local facilities. We did use the local bus service but beware, there is a very much reduced timetable over the weekend. A beach holiday it definitely wasn't.
Our first visit to The Gower and this site, 5 x nights from 20th June. Final road in is a little tight with a blind narrow bend between two stone walls that needs to be taken carefully. The site is well laid out with plenty of well maintained grass, good sized pitches and lacks the regimented feel of a lot of sites. It has to be said that the site adds something to this rather bland post industrial area which is not representative of the majority of the Gower. Staff were great and facilities well maintained although the one toilet block is starting to show the strain slightly. The on site dog walk was good and the keys to the locked gates give additional access onto the adjacent park. The industrial nature of the gates and security fencing together with the anti-climb grease (liberally spread around) is a little concerning. Not sure if there have been serious problems in the past? There is a little backgrund road and rail noise but it is by no means intrusive. Would use this site again as a base to explore the area.
This site was a pleasure to visit. The facilities are spotless, the site is well cared for and the wardens are always pleasant and friendly. The Gower Penninsula was spectacular with many stunning walks to be had.
This site is a credit to the wardens it is spotless and wonderfully tidy.
The wardens are very friendly and as helpful as they can be when they are surrounded by rules and regulations.
We and our 2 Labradors have been coming to the Gowerton site for many years and will continue to do so.
It is ideal as a base for the wonderful Gower Peninsula and Swansea.
We stayed on the site in order to compete in the Swansea Triathlon. Easy access to Swansea and sits at the gateway to the Gower Peninsular. Super location for experiencing the beauty of the peninsular.
Staff very welcoming and facilities spotless. Great site to stay with children for beaches although limited recreation facilities on site for them.
My only gripe is nothing to do with the site or the excellent staff but club policy on wifi. Why you have to pay for limited access, one unit only on one login in this day and age puzzles me? Come on club, get with it and have wifi available as in hotels, restaurants and public spaces.
stayed for nine nights in May. Site is clean and the facilities are spotless. Nice peaceful site although we were there wwhen kids were still at schooll. Nicely situated for the Gower and touring round other areas. Would certainly visit again.
Very nice site with welcoming staff even though we arrived after 5 when the office and shop had closed. Site was clean and tidy and ideally located for the Gower. It is a shame that the site is located close to a busy road and whilst the traffic was not visible there was the constant sound of traffic in the background which, if sitting out in the summer, would become an annoyance. The site is also close to a railway line but this was not an issue as the trains were infrequent.
The local Harvester whilst busy we were not impressed with the quality of the food! Suggest you go somewhere else.
