Location

As has been said on numerous reviews this is an excellent site located in a prime part of Cornwall. Stayed for 2 weeks during height of season in August and found site meet all expectations but as this is a prime Cornwall site the CC should really heed the numerous statements regarding the update required of the toilet block. This should be done soonest. To have 6 hand wash basins and only 4 toilets does not meet the requirements early morning in the male side. Showers are also in need of updating as they do not drain well and poor flow. The area is great for beaches etc but be warned not many are dog friendly (not CC fault). Would recommend this site but please CC invest on an upgrade soonest as this has been mentioned now over a number of years.

Super Cornwall

We stayed on this site for a week at the end of August, it has lovely friendly wardens and is an ideal location for exploring the bottom end of Cornwall. We cycled all over on the nearby country roads which were quite of traffic and the beach is a scenic 15 minute walk away.

Ideally Situated

Firstly I'll finish off the title; this site is ideally situated for the Cornish Peninsula. If you want an idea of travel times and distances: its about an hour back up the the A30 to Jamaica Inn and its 20 miles/35 mins or so to Lands End. The site now. Good access and on first look well up to the standard expected of a CC site. But when full, you know you're at a site that is maximising the number of pitches that can be squeezed into the space available. The layout is of a number of bays and it feels goldfish bowl like. If you're used to the space that a hard standing site brings this site will disappoint. As a reviewer below says below, the site is in need of an increase in showers and toilets. A number of the 'sink only' wash spaces could easily double the number of showers. Cleanliness being a grass site was an issue especially when it rained and a late evening clean would not have gone a miss during our stay. Good bits, friendly warden team, excellent play area for the kids and excellent access to the Towans beach through a key access gate. Would we visit again?.......Yes but maybe not at peak season.

Usual high standards

Usual high standards from a CC site. A slight mark down on peace and quiet due farm machiery next door ( cant be helped) Also the ablution blocks sometimes a bit dirty but only due to the volume of people and the matter of all grass pitches. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the convenience to both coasts

Brilliant site!

We stayed here in August for just over 2 weeks - family of 5 - 3 children aged 11, 13, 16.  Helpful wardens, really well kept site and well laid out with lots of hedges.  Perfect location for everything in west cornwall - loads to do! Recommend St Ives Surf school for coasteering - brilliant, and Ian from Vertical blue at Porthleven for kayaking.  St Michaels mount was well worth a visit too. From the site you can walk to the beach across the dunes and down the steps, or drive up to the NT car park.  Most stunning beach we have ever been too - so beautiful and quiet too. Otherwise you need to drive to place but easy drive into Hayle and parking good too - marks and spencer, asda, lidl, co-op for food - great location.  St Ives is beautiful and loads to do - we ate at the Mermaid and the Hub restaurants - would recommend both - and don't forget the ice cream! - we tried the park and ride on the train (£10) but found it easier to park at the leisure centre for about £6.50 (I think) per day - worked out cheaper and easier. Carbis bay is lovely too - free to park and quieter than St Ives - we ate at the italian/spanish restaurant which was well worth it. Philps pasties are the best - cheap and filling. Only negative (being picky) is that being August it was very busy, plus we had some bad weather which didn't help - that the toilets and showers got extremely busy and a bit tatty with the amount of use - but time it right when everyone is out for the day and just after a clean (between 12 and 3) and no problem! Thank you for a wonderful holiday! One of the best sites we have been too so definitely recommend.

Please upgrade and add more showers/ !?!

This is a lovely location. Palm trees and wild flowers, close to beach. Sometimes glowworms in the hedges. We've used it for years now and keep returning because the kids love it. It is a great site with lovely memories for our family. But everytime we return we cross our fingers and hope the toilet block has been refreshed. The showers bang and rattle, hardly as powerful as the caravan shower and they often run cold. There is often a queue too. The ladies showers have a shared drain so the waste/shampoo suds etc from your neighbours shower runs over your feet. I wouldn't mind too much but it's quite an expensive site, in comparison to St Agnes beacon just up the road or others with no toilet block, so you are paying a premium for something that's not much use. There's often quite a lot of noise from the play ground until quite late too, with the older kids hanging out there. So, in summary, great site so I'd still give it 5 stars and we'll definitely be back again (with really friendly wardens this year too) but some of the poorest toilet facilities I've come across on a club site.

Toilet/Shower need an upgrade

Great site for location 2mins from the Townas and the awesome Gwithian beach, good access to A39 to about and about with St.Ives only 15mins away, wardens really friendly and helpful BUT the only thing that lets this site down is the toilet/shower facilities with low and variable water pressure all the time, stools instead of s small bench makes using awkward, due to proximity to beach lots of beach debris left after us, and my wife & daughter said that the floors in the ladies showers weren't even tiled to the point they felt the need to wear flip flops in the shower - toilet block needs a serious upgrade please!!!

Beach heaven

You won't find a better beach for the kids to play on their body boards and surf boards (if they can get mum and dad off) Site ideally situated for touring the area. Will go again for sure.
