If you don't like planes or are plane noise intolerant, don't stay here, the clue's in the name, Gatwick !! However, I had a really great stay here, the site is actually on the side of one of the runways, the plane noise didn't bother me one bit and I found it really exciting to look up and see the planes taking off, so close to the ground that the livery could be clearly seen. The wardens were friendly and welcoming and the facilities great as is usual on a club site and very clean. It is just 4.4 miles and a 12 minute drive from the Hawth Theatre, which has free parking and all the usual supermarkets and outlets are all just minutes drive away including County Mall Shopping Centre. This was a perfect location for my stay in Crawley and I'd be back like a shot should I be visiting Crawley again.
A perfect site for our requirements
The late arrivals area is level and we could have hooked up. Our pitch was perfectly level and sunny on this well laid out, well maintained site. Immaculate facilities - I did find the closure of the facilities daily between 11 and 12 inconvenient at times. The planes were as expected and we did not find the sound to be a problem - watching them was fascinating. The numbers taking off reduced considerably at night. Unfortunately there is no longer a bus stop opposite the site but we reached London easily by taxi and train. Although the pub next door is closed we walked in to Charlwood not far away - around the end of the runway - and visited the Half Moon.
Another stay at Gatwick
We have had many short stays at Gatwick (previously Amberley Fields) for various reasons, but mostly to visit our daughter and family who live in Crawley.
The site is up to the usual club site standard, and is very well kept by the wardens there. The aircraft noise is to be expected, and you soon get used to it.
We will visit there again, hopefully many times. There used to be a pub (The Flight Tavern) next door, but that is now sold and being converted.

She said "what planes?"
I stayed for one night on my way to Brighton. Being at the end of the runway, it was noisy till almost midnight and from 6am. If you are used to this kind of noise then it might be fine for you. I spoke to a delightful lady who had been staying on a seasonal pitch at Gatwick for 40 years and she said she didn't hear the planes. The wardens mentioned the noise as soon as I arrived and they were helpful and friendly. Perhaps the club website should mention the noise a bit more prominently. I was expecting it but others may not be.
Gatwick
Site is up to normal high standards with only 24 touring pitches, yet site very popular with the storage compound in regular use as it was leading up to a Bank Holiday weekend.Only having a small amount of tourers did make it a friendly site, with excellent site wardens. However the location so near to the runway did take some getting use to.However after a day or so you do not notice it as much. This site would make an ideal stop over site with a massive Tesco's extra at Horley. Also there is a small hump back bridge which is just before the site entrance which is a good sign to slow down with van on back
Great location
Lovely site near Gatwick airport. The wardens were friendly and helpful and the site was immaculate and as expected for a club site the facilities were spotless and plenty of hot water. A must for any plane spotting enthusiasts. Good transport links into Crawley for supermarkets, shopping and restaurants. We will definitely be visiting again.

Good site
Nice little site - convenient for the purpose we used it for to attend a family wedding. It is noisy from around 5.45 am but that's to be expected situated next to the runway but the children loved to watch the planes take off and land. Friendly wardens.

A convenient site for touring.
This club site is kept to the usual very high standards that most club sites maintain. Convenient for touring the West and East Sussex coastline and all towns and villages. Convenient also for a stop over before heading to the the port of Dover or the channel tunnel.Site fasilities are good, with the usual piping hot shower block. There is however a certain amount of noise created from the close by Gatwick airport, which varies by whichever way the wind is blowing.
Downside point is that the Wifi connection was very weak, and frequently lost signal meant having to continually log in again. This became somewhat annoying as the week progressed. Summing up, a nice site conveniently situated.
Mini break convenience
The site proved to be very convenient for our visit to family in Horsham. The facilities were very clean. It was interesting being so near the Gatwick airport runway - good for plane spotters! Although we were aware of the planes they didn't impact that much on our stay. We would certainly use the site again for a short stay - we felt itwas not a site for a long stay.

Lovely Site
Wardens most helpful and friendly. Our first attempt at winter caravanning in uk. Weather on one night atrocious, gales (60kt) and heavy rain. There was considerable flooding but site coped well. We were attending a funeral and visiting family and this facility was perfect. Well done CC!
