A great site and a great location.

We've just spent nine days here and it must be one of the best locations on the club's list of sites. So peaceful and quiet and such views. The site is in two parts with one overlooking the harbour and beach and another across the road which is more secluded and private. Both have their own facilities block which were spotless and have different cleaning times. A good selection of pitches in a very tidy site which was kept so well by the two sets of wardens (one was a relief set) who were both very helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The village is just charming, since our last visit it has now a fantastic cafe - The Hive as well as the Harbour Inn which continues to serves very good meals but you will probably have to book, there is a basic shop outside the village which also sells (only) diesel but there's plenty of supermarkets around from small ones in Wigtown and larger ones in Newton Stewart. There is plenty to see around the area, we saw lots plenty of walkers and cyclists heading out. I must mention Sorbie Tower a very few miles away. In the information room you'll see a poster with the name and number of Steve Hanna who gives almost private tours inside on Tuesdays. However at the tower it say to ring him and if he's in the area you'll get one there and then. Very luckily when we arrived there and he was already and we got a private tour. Lots to see and do around the area and I think the A747 that hugs the sea northwards from port William is just outstanding. There are plenty of large strips car parks just next to the sea. Or just stay on site an relax.
