Peace, Nature, Friendly

With a pitch on the bay - the caravan was like a bird hide enjoying the birds along the waters edge, whilst being lulled to sleep by the sound of the sea, or listening to the wild rain/wind. Walks from the site along the coast are lovely - the beaches are rocks, seaweed, pebble with some sand - not the golden sand type - but attractive nontheless. A  good leg stretch will take you to the 'Isle of Whithorn' at the tip of the peninsula, and the woods are full of birdsong and the odd red deer. Driving North there is the Galloway Forest to explore. The site itself has excellent facilities; copious amounts of hot water; and extremely welcoming & friendly wardens. Pack food basics - the post office doubles as a small shop and that is all!!! A meat van and a fish van come to the site on a Tuesday. Local pub is very friendly/takes dogs.
