Exceptional !

We stayed at Garlieston for 8 nights in August. What a lovely quiet site. First of all location - right by the sea - although the tide was out more than in, great for watching wildlife. Good walks around Galloway House gardens and Rigg bay, albeit a bit wet underfoot so good stout walking boots required. Bike rides - to the Isle of Whithorn only around 7 miles and a great community café with lovely cakes and coffee when you get there to fuel you up for the way back. I usually won't ride on roads, but made an exception here because we only saw around 6 cars there and back ! The village shop is actually in the petrol station - which only has diesel and sells a bit of everything. Garlieston Lodge sells eggs and a very tasty barbecue pack of 4 burgers, 6 sausages and 4 chicken kebabs for £5.99 - exceptional quality. Harbour Inn has good wholesome food. We bought some delicious salmon fillets from the wet fish van that visited site on Tuesday, and the Fish and Chip van was good too - haddock not cod - happy to say! The wardens kept everything spic and span. Flowers beautiful. When I went to enquire if Ann had any gravy in the site shop she went to her own kitchen and said to use what we needed from that. So kind. They stick to basic caravanning needs in the shop so that they keep a good rapport with the locals. Would we come again? Yes definitely, Garlieston is a gem as are the wardens!
