Near Ideal Location (for Us)

Stayed here for 1 night on 21/10/16 while touring Dumfries & Galloway in our motorhome. As we hadn't fully reviewed the site details before arriving, we had a wonderful surprise on arriving to find it so beautiful & perfectly located on the harbour side within the village. Within 30 mins of arrival, spotted 2 kingfishers & a guillimot, all just beside our pitch (no 7). Very well tended site with lovely flower displays at the entrance & yhe wardens very helpful, too. We intend returning for a longer stay!

Peaceful but not isolated.

Just had a few days break at this site. (Oct. 2016). Beautiful setting, Dog Friendly for walks, and sited in the walled garden, peaceful, plenty of space and facilities spotless, if somewhat dated. There's not even the roar of distant traffic, just the sound of sea-birds in the harbour/ estuary. Recommended

Peace and quiet in abundance

We stayed at this site for 12 nights in September/October, having read the review in the CC magazine last year. The site was busy and we were pitched in the walled garden. The pitches were very tight to access but fine once we were set up. The toilet block was small (2 toilets, wash cubicles and showers) and in need of refurbishment, but was adequate. We did not use the other toilet block on the harbour side. The site was well kept, neat and tidy and the wardens helpful and friendly. We were surprised that there was no recycling facility for glass either on site or locally. We did not want to put empty bottles into landfill, so took them home with us to recycle! The local shop in Garlieston is run by a rather grumpy gentleman, and only stocks the bare essentials. We shopped at Morrisons in Stranraer, although there is a Co-op in Wigtown which is nearer. The village and surrounding area is lovely with plenty of coastal walks in both directions, as well as easy access to Galloway House gardens which were very interesting. The village is like stepping back in time and although a road cuts the site in two, it was very quiet and peaceful. The Harbour Inn is 2 minutes walk away and served reasonably good pub grub.

Garlieston .Picture Perfect

I am not currently staying on the site but am staying in the village of Garlieston. I wanted to comment on the lovely flower displays outside the main site and the annex. No matter what time of year when the site is open, the flower displays outside are lovely to see , not just for the members but for the residents in the village as well. The wardens have also decorated the office for Halloween, it looks great.

A brilliant few days!

This was our third visit to Garlieston this year and we were thrilled to be back in such a beautiful place.  It is the most calming and peaceful site with lovely walks and cycling places - Galloway House Gardens are a fabulous place to visit.  The site is lovely with flowers everywhere and the view of the harbour, the wardens couldn't be friendlier or more helpful, amenities spotless as always.  We, and our two dogs, had an absolutely brilliant few days with great weather.  Will certainly be back next year.

Garlieston

We often visit Garlieston site, and always find the wardens very pleasant and helpful.  However, Ann and Martin, the current wardens always go the extra mile.  The site which we always found very good, is now immaculate, and the floral displays outstanding, thanks to their hard work.  We use Garlieston as our benchmark, when we visit other sites, and as yet we have to find anywhere better.  Keep up the excellent work Ann and Martin! David and Gillian Gaffrey.

Good base

Just spent two nights with recently acquired van and awning. Beautiful site, clean and neat with helpful wardens. Makes a good base for visiting this lovely area of the country. Good pub, the Harbour Inn, only a few yards from the site.

Fabulous place

Fabulous little place Garlieston. Club site is impeccably kept with the site split by a road to the walled garden with its own washrooms and facilities . The showers were lovely and spotlessly clean in both toilet blocks . The wardens are friendly, and helpfull. my wife and I will definately be back next October. Not only the site but both the wardens and relief wardens were warm and welcoming with nothing being too much bother, such a friendly place to look forward to re visiting.

We liked so much we bought a house there

Well what can we say... We kept coming back here year after year and loved the place so much we bought a house here. Why... It's the peace and tranquility, the fresh air, the views and the fantastic walks, the local hospitality, lots of things to do and places to visit. This is really the land that time forgot. The site... Exceptional. Stunning location and views, - the Best kept site we've been on...stunning flower displays, spotless amenities block..and lovely, sociable and helpful wardens. What more could you wish for?

great quiet and relaxing

Our pitch overlooked the harbour it was a great spot relaxing and quiet. The facilities are spotless and modern. It was a short walk to the welcoming Harbour pub which did a good meal and a decent pint. The dog loved his wander up and down the beach strip although we did keep him at the top end in the sand and away from the more muddy areas. Handy for visiting Wigtown and the many bookshops. All in all a great site.
