Second stop of our 2019 Tour

Moving on from Tewkesbury we decided to stay at Freshwater East as the site description said close to public transport and good for cycling. The site itself is very well maintained and the wardens are lovely. Facilities are modern and very clean. If you like beaches the setting is ideal and the area is beautiful. Firstly, we are no Trott and Kenny and on that basis the bikes stayed on the back of the motorhome. Electric bikes would have got you up the hill to the main road but the roads were so narrow only a proficient cyclist would have the nerve to venture out. A friend had told us we must visit Barafundle Bay and Bosherston Lily Ponds We have a 10 month old puppy and so long walks are not an option at the moment. We did a lovely walk to Stackpole Quay but didn’t feel we could push puppy the extra hour to walk to Barafundle. We asked the National Trust lady about motorhome access to the Stackpole Quay car park (meaning only 30 minutes walk to the Bay) and to Bosherston and we were led to believe it would be quite difficult due to the narrow access roads. Ah well, it was not to be. We visited Pembroke on the one bus per day that stopped outside the site. The bus driver was lovely and so helpful but it became apparent we weren’t going to get to Tenby on public transport. The nearest pub is The Longhouse but it does look very unloved. The Freshwater Inn was closed while we were there. The site is faultless, but unfortunately not for us. We left a day early to visit Tenby and move on to our next site.
