Midterm break at Freshwater East
Beautiful setting and immaculately kept club site a couple of miles from Pembroke. Fresh water east beach was a 5 minute walk from the site - a small, clean sandy beach that our dog and 14 year old son fell in love with. We were reluctant to venture further out from the site area in Freshwater as the weather was dry and sunny and a body board and wet suit from Tesco were all our son needed to while away the hours in the sea. The longhouse restaurant next to the beach served up a delicious evening meal at a reasonable price after a long day. We visited Pembroke castle and Tenby but returned to local beaches in the afternoon. We visited Freshwater West beach (where Dobby from the Harry Potter films was buried in the sand dunes) for a bracing evening stroll. National trust Barafundle bay was a must see beach too but be warned there are steep steps leading down to the beach. The costal path along the top was spotted with orchids and an abundance of other wild flowers. We estimated we were spending just over a tenner each a night for 5 star accommodation with the friendliest wardens who never seemed to stop working around the site to keep it looking pristine. A five star experience and a holiday to remember.
