Good for families

Lovely site and location but don’t visit unless you are happy to listen to barking dogs

A nice site site and GREAT STAFF in every respect BUT they declined to take any action about noisy dogs. We suggested that they mention keeping dogs quiet to owners on arrival but staff said that CMC Head Office wouldn’t allow them to, as they wouldn’t want to add to the list of rules on arrival after a long journey! We gained the impression that staff believe that Head Office is nervous about upsetting dog owners because of commercial reasons. Barking dogs were evident throughout the day but particularly early and late in the day, before and after the staff were on duty - hence they didn’t hear them. During the day staff were usually operating machinery and had ear defenders on! We were at the far end of the site well away from staff accommodation which is why they didn’t hear them. Staff suggested that we politely approach offending owners ourselves. We did this on a site earlier this year and were subjected to an very aggressive and threatening response from a defensive dog owner - never again. We like dogs and most owners on the site were considerate, but a significant minority were not. Could staff please be instructed/empowered to be proactive in tackling this growing problem, not just during duty hours. We experienced an identical problem on the CCC site at Keswick earlier this year. However the wardens there were proactive and spoke to owners before getting complaints. The dog owners on a pitch close to ours were spoken to very politely but firmly and chose to leave the following day as they were incapable of controlling their dogs. If this growing problem isn’t addressed soon it is going to spoil lots of holidays.

It really isn’t on for wardens to suggest you deal with an issue yourself when the dog owners are clearly in breach of site rules by allowing their dogs to annoy others.

Perhaps you should contact the club and tell them the full story in order to get something done as, based on what you say, it seems the wardens have let people down.

Visiting Club sites with your dog (or other pets)
Good news – you can take your pets touring with you. All Club sites allow you to bring your pets along at no extra cost.

If you are bringing dogs, when you arrive, site staff will give you a leaflet all about how they must behave while staying on the site.

Many of our sites have a dog walk on-site or very nearby, making them a great place to stay for both you and your dog. You can use the facilities filter on our Search & Book tool to find the site that’s right for you and your pet.

IF you encounter barking dogs on site again, use your phone to record it and pitch no of the offenders so that you can show the proof to the wardens and send it to CMC head office.

Oh how I very much understand where MalJon1 is coming from. Though a member of the CMC (obviously as I am posting Doh) I actively seek private sites that are dog free. Dogs are not the problem its the darn silly and selfish owners

I often feel that the club should be re named

Caravan, Motor Home and dog lovers club

You don’t need to be a member to post, RM, but I wonder why you are a member when you know the club is dog friendly yet you want dog free sites.

How about 'Caravan, Motorhome, Trailer Tent, Dog Lovers and General Moaners Club'? undecided

Maljon, I do feel that your post should have been posted to head office. It is not a review of the site or it's surroundings.  You told us  that at the time that you were there , there were  unruly dogs and irresponsible dog owners.  The thing that I do find of note is that the wardens don't like to enforce the rules.

Maybe there are relatively few main sites that are dog free?

Alan,  forgive me for asking, but why on earth have you chosen to (presumably search for and) resurrect this thread which has been dormant for 7 months? undecided
