Great area, average site
Stayed for a week in July 2020 and will head back, but only for the access to beautiful beaches nearby. Despite a patronising reversing lecture on arrival and wardens being overly protective of their one pound coins when asked for change to use their washing machine, we enjoyed the stay. Don’t expect a sea view, the site is long and thin. Aim for a pitch on the right of either loop as you drive in, as they seem to get more light. Our pitch on the left of the lower loop was a bit dark and boggy off the hardstanding. Oh, and definitely don’t arrive before 1 as the road is coned-off leaving people who have had a good run with little room to turn/park, especially if it’s a nice day and the adjacent car park is full of beach goers’ vehicles. Dog walk is poor - uneven passage between 2 hedges. Site entrance only 100 metres from sandy beach though, and short drive to Stackpole Court, where you can walk to the beautiful Barafundle Bay (where if feels like you could be in Turkey or Italy) in 30 mins, even with a pushchair or little person. West Angle bay also worth a visit, the cafe does great food, the car park is free, and the beach is likely to be quieter than Barafundle. Highly recommend Pembroke Castle for a few hours, even if some areas closed due to pandemic. Dogs welcomed too. Would recommend buying food etc from the garage in Lamphey rather than the McColls you pass between site and Pembroke.
