Great Experience

Stayed on new Waterside area. Lovely, 3m from waters edge, very luxurious toilet block....4 suites with shower, toilet, wash basin and drying area plus 2 more individual toilet and basin loos outside. Nice peaceful site, great fishing included in price (for this area), right outside your caravan ..... the only problem I could see for the future would be the mess left by the geese. Canada Geese nesting on one island and Greylags on the other, but it was nice watching the goslings 'line astern' with mum and dad each end. Lovely few days, will return for sure. Note: If travelling from A47 Norwich direction double check your route if using Sat Nav. Best route is.....A47, A141,B1093, past Doddington Hospital, past Defland Nursuries, then site on the right after bends......lookout for sign on the right. This route saves a lot of narrow, bendy, switchback roads.(only gave one star for Good for families, as its adults only) Enjoy!

Revisiting Fields End Water

Having visited Fields End Water before we knew that this would be an attractive site with clean, modern facilities, welcoming staff and a great place to stay for a while, even though we do not fish. Just to enjoy the walks, views and wildlife around the lakes is sufficient for us. This is an Adult only site. Due to Covid the showers weren't open at the time of our visit but we were aware of that prior to our visit. The onsite cafe is as good as ever. The sunsets were beautiful and the ducks with their ducklings, the comings and goings of geese and swans provided endless entertainment, and on the day we left five fluffy goslings appeared from beneath mother goose who had nested on the island in the middle of the new Waterside lake. Another visit booked for later in the year.

A Lovely Site

We stayed here for 3 nights in April 2021. The site and facilities are first class and absolutely spotless. Although the weather was very chilly we ate at the Cafe where the food was very good and great value, and the service very friendly. The site is only a short walk from Doddington which has a couple of pubs, a post office and a One Stop. We don't fish but will definitely return to this excellent site. I have given one tick for families as the site is adults only.

Waterside location

Just back from a lovely relaxing break on the new waterside fully serviced pitches at this Adults only site. Lovely to be able to pitch facing the Lake and within a few feet of it. Large level pitches with plenty of space between pitches and as you are facing the Lake nobody walking past or looking directly at your van. Plenty of people fishing directly from the pitch or on one of the other lakes. Spotless modern facilities although showers closed due to Covid. Good TV and Wifi speed. Friendly and efficient wardens, onsite shop and small cafe offering meals or take away at reasonable prices. The club need to take a look at sites like this, that offer a superior product at a better price.

Will use again

Only managed to get two nights here but hope we can come back to spend more time on this adults only site. Staff were very friendly and site is well cared for. We were on the CL part that suited us fine just had a few bugs the one night but you are close to water so this happens I guess now and again. The Club could do with many more adult only style of sites just ask the members especially in the school holidays its why lots of us motorhomer's use French or European aires.

OK but wouldn’t return

Stayed for a week on Pitch 4 which was near to the facilities block. This area was the only one which was full (6 vans) and needs some attention. The pitch had puddles of standing water and never dried out (possibly poor drainage??), consequently it was muddy even though it was hardstanding. There are several potholes that need sorting out as well. Other areas seemed better. Some nice places in the area, Ely, Cambridge and St Ives, but all are a fair drive away. Nothing within walking distance. The new lake and pods which are on the website are still a building site, supposed to opening at Easter but I can’t see that happening. From the pitch we were on there was no view at all, being disabled I could not even get up the steps to the fishing lake - hubby went and took a picture for me. It was peaceful until every morning at first light when hundreds of birds descended on the pitch next door where they had put up no less than 7 bird feeders on a stand and in the trees!! Consequently it was a right racket waking us up every day. This shouldn’t be allowed. Give me Eye Kettleby any day, it might be more expensive but it’s way in front.

Quiet definitely, good not

Just visited here this new year, and not impressed it's ok if you like fishing but that's about it, it's in the middle of nowhere, unfriendly, not a well kept site, i.e. Bins full inc dog bins, no lights around the one bin ! Waste water drain full of leaves and mud ! Dog mess even on gravel pitches! Lovely shower block, no dog walks, but that's it just been honest . Won't be returning !

Excellent site

Visited here a couple of weeks ago and can't fault the site. The toilet /shower facilities were extremely clean and warm considering the time of year. The pitches all seemed to be on fairly even ground may need just a slight adjustment to get perfectly level. The shop at this time of the year doesn't hold many supplies no milk / bread etc when we were there though they do during the season. The Village is a short distance away (under a mile) but not really accessible from the road as no footpath, not sure if there is a 'public footpath' that we didn't see. Went for the fishing and the lakes are lovely only fished 'The Pit' but nicely laid out and had a couple of nice roach. Will definitely be going back there next year.
