Winter Break

We have been to Ferry Meadows many times over the years so we are familiar with the site. Its location is very good with easy access to the Nene Valley Park which gives plenty of walking/cycling opportunities. We were fortunate that we had some sunny days and whilst not hot, but what do you expect in January, it proved ideal conditions for walks. We also wandered down to the Garden Centre and afterwards had a meal in the convenient Granary Inn. This was our first encounter with the new barrier. Whilst I understand the reasons for its installation I imagine that at busy times it could cause difficulties. I felt that some of the site roads need resurfacing. My main gripe was the motorhome service point if you can call it that! The single drain is positioned in such a way that it is far from easy to place the motorhome waste point over the drain. We had to reverse in the wrong way and as a result block the road in order to use the waste point. Surely a site as large and as busy as Ferry Meadows warrants one of the new open grill waste points?

When open grates were installed at Commons Wood i understand the club had a litigation claim against them when a person damaged their ankle ,and as admitted by several motor caravan owners ispoke to, its more down to poor design of motor caravan waste outlets than the service point, when we were at Ferry Meadows from the 9th January until last Monday
