BEWARE!

We return from this wonderful site but found it a stressful stay on pitch 183. This pitch is next to the wonderful new play park, no this is not a complaint about the noise from happy children playing on the updated equipment, it is a whinge at the Caravan club and the drivers who do not stick to club rules and drive at 5 miles per hour on site. Pitch 183 with caravan set up blocks the drivers view of children who run and bike across the road. Also right in front of this pitch is a turning right we noticed that drivers were not fully concentrating on the children but where to turn and pitch. We mentioned to the Warden there needs to be another speed bump put in just before this pitch to slow the traffic down. He was grateful we mentioned it and he put in our view for this to be added. We hope this has now been added. Wonderful site so much to do. Go to Dobbies not just a garden centre! All the family can enjoy a shopping day out even pets and fish to look at for the youngsters and their giant cakes yummy. There is a restaurant there too.

Great Site

First visit to this site. Being able to cycle free of traffic in such wonderful surroundings was excellent. Especially into the centre of  Peterborough. What a fantastic Cathedral. Bonus is the wide life on site, bit wet when we arrived, ducks swiming in the puddles on the road near our pitch, doesn't get better than that. Will certainly be going to Ferry Meadows again.

First Time but Not the Last!

Visited Ferry Meadows in the middle of May with our Son and daughter in law. This was a great site for them to cut their teeth on caravanning and as we are expecting our first Grand child in November, we look forward to returning with all three of them next year. The site is ideal for a family as the surrounding Nene Park is full of places to explore with the children and very educational, but at the same time a great place for adults to relax or exercise as much or as little as you like. The wardens on reception were very welcoming and the site was of a high standard. We also have a Golden Retreiver which loved the walks round the Country Park and the odd swim in the lake!!. And if you are a train buff there are the steam train rides and pleasant walks to one of the many eateries where dogs are welcome. We tried the Boathouse Inn and wasn't disappointed. The site is well laid out with two sides East and West. The East being best for families with the new play area although there is one on the West too. Fish and Chip van on site 3 days of the week and just one thing you must like rabbits as its like Watership Down but that sealed it for me! ??

Blissful Week

We have stayed at Ferry Meadows three times before this break and we still find it a well kept site. No litter about, wardens come each day to empty the bins, glad to see that there is recycling bins here. Toilets and showers are kept clean and tidy. The Wardens are always smiling and happy and very helpful. The only concern that we have had each time we have been, is that the information room doesn't have many leaflets on what to do nearby. I looked up on the internet this time before we went and planned our week. We will defiently be going back most likely next year.

May 2016

Have stayed here several times great for walking and cycling this is a site we use when we want a relaxing break. Overall site not bad some water logged areas due to all the rain , lots of rabbis and magpies that came into awning after dog food which fun to watch. As always toilets, showers very clean. Wardens Friendly. Our only concern was children cycling at speed all around caravans which is dangerous think something needs to done before an accident occurs. Will we use this site again yes

Nice new play area

Of course Ferry Meadows is always fine. With many years of staying there, perhaps this year it was a bit unkempt. Around the bins etc. a need for a broom etc. and it was not as if the Wardens were busy !! New play area is fantastic for kids, really good excellent equipment and many kids enjoying it. One has to ask why two small patches of stone and concrete in a other wise soft play area !! Disappointing was the maintenance condition, clearly some powder spilt by kids but no attempt by Wardens to remove it or for that matter to litter pick (their kids after all) or to blow away the leaves etc. Again one wonders what the Wardens were doing. In saying that did not see one Warden on our (section) all week, we could have had a rave as they would never know. Come on Caravan Club at £28 a night a bit more effort from what appeared to be lazy wardens. O'h yes grass cutting, what's that?

Late Easter break

We stayed on this site just after Easter for 3 nights, along with my inlaws who had recommended this site for the children. The site was easy to find and we were instructed where to park in the queue waiting to check in - all very well organised. We opted for the West site as we wanted a hard standing pitch. The site was quite full but we found two pitches together. The children went to the play area - which is very small on this side - but the other one was being renovated so cant comment. The site was clean and tidy as were the facilities. The location was good for the Ferry Meadows country park and we went here 2 days, bike riding, walking and hired a boat on the lake (very reasonable price and good service). The only downside was after some very heavy rain the roads and some of the pitches begain to fill with water. Some noise from the park next door mainly cars arriving and departing, but you'd expect that. Had a trip to Peterborough on the steam train, good experience, although Peterborough not what I expected. Last day we stayed new visitors arrived who's children ran and rode bikes through all different pitches and round backs of caravans - so glad to be leaving. I think midweek stays maybe better that weekends even in school holidays. The site was nice, clean and wardens pleasent, but nothing spectacular. Would I return? possibly if there was a show or something in the area I wanted to see. Just for a holiday - probably not.

Good family break

First visit to Ferry Meadows for a long weekend at the end of the kids half term. Stayed with family including our 5 year old nephew, 3 year old niece and our 10 week old baby. All the kids enjoyed the new play park and the older kids loved riding their bikes around the site and the Nene Valley Park itself. Wardens friendly. Just watch out for the rabbits everywhere if your dog is partial to them!!

May Half Term

Access to the site is very good and on arrival we were greeted by security staff who took our name and booking prior to entry.  I am informed that this was due to previous years when some ne’er-do-wells tried to get on a full site without any booking. Good planning on the Caravan Clubs part! The site was fully booked and on my arrival I was presented with what little options were left to site my caravan but this was no drama. The site is split into East and West sides. The East side has the new play park which was very popular with families as expected and therefore there were no pitches left on this side. Again this was no drama and in all honesty I preferred the West side. It was quieter and there were still kids with whom my kids could play with. Pitches on the East side were grass in the majority and broken up between tree-lines. Because of this each section appeared to have a bit of a rally feel to it. There are pitches for tents and these looked fairly level. The site on the whole is pretty level. I was on a hard standing pitch so had no issue with needing leveling blocks. The pitches were spacious and well laid out.  Each side of the site has one toilet block and were well maintained and clean. I had no issues with queuing despite the site being full. The toilets have security codes to stop every man and his dog using them. Some of the wardens were miserable and they came across as being disinterested in human interaction. I don’t know if they were stressed out but it seemed the simplest of conversation or inquiry was too much for them. There was more huffing and puffing than the proverbial wolf! Maybe it’s time for a relocation or career change not involving people. This was not expected and somewhat disappointing as I have not experienced it before on a club site. It was also not exclusive to one occasion either. If nothing else folks at least lose the bad attitude! There is a lot to do in the immediate vicinity and in the general area especially if you are an outdoor person.   Despite the unpleasant staff I will visit again.

Love this site

we visited for the first time in 2015 and knew straightaway that we would come back with our Granddaughter, it is just perfect for kids.  Had a great time cycling in the park and caught the steam train into Peterborough.  A really lovely site in a wonderful location.  I am 100% sure we will be back!  the new play park is really lovely.  The staff are very friendly and helpful and the facilities very clean and well maintained.
