A lovely site

This is the third time I've stayed on this site and will come again. The wardens are friendly, the showers and toilets lovely and clean. The fish and chip van is good. I always stay on the grass side and enjoy the rabbits. The pitches are nice and level arranged well in separate areas surounded by trees.

Well worth the visit - we will be back.

Having read some of the previous reviews about this site I booked it with some reservations, but have to say I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by pleasant and friendly staff who were extremely helpful when we were pitching our oversized unit. The facilities are spotless and well maintained and the location was fantastic for access to the Ferry Meadows park. There is an issue with the noise of the entry barrier to Ferry Meadows and if I had been closer to that side of the site I can imagine it would be extremely disruptive, as it started clanking early morning and went on pretty much all day and well into the evening. Fortunately we were at the far side of that site so whilst we could hear it, it wasn't an issue. Otherwise the site was very quiet. Some of the pitches have a tendancy to water log which is an issue if you have an awning up, but having said that they also drain quite quickly so with just a bit of dry weather the problem rectifies itself. If you had a really wet week it would have been an issue as the puddles got quite deep. Most of the campers with children booked onto the side of the campsite that had the play park (which is fantastic) so as an all adult unit there was very little disruption for us as the two sides are in effect separate camp sites with very little movement between the two. There were some kids on bikes, but nothing too disturbing - having said this we were outside school holiday times - this may not be the case during peak times. Cycling generally in this area is great, with good access to several bike routes. Can definitely recommend using this form of transport especially given the flat nature of the land which makes for much easier riding. We were there for a fortnight and will happily book again. If you have kids they will be worn out with everything that there is to do in this area - I wanted to borrow someone's children just so we could have a go - they looked to be having that much fun! Lots of good space for dog walking and generally just being outside. Would definitely recommend the site to anyone who wants a relaxing outdoor holiday.

Excellent

First visit and just spent 5 days on this site. Great location for walking and cycling with lots to see and do in the area. We chose the site on the other side of the road to reception as it was less formal and quieter during the week, although this will no doubt be different during school holidays and at weekends with the fabulous new play area. Friendly wardens and very clean facilities.

Lovely Site

Stayed here for 3 nights in June. Beautifully kept site in a stunning location. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy themselves with lovely walks in the adjacent Country Park. Facilities block very good. Our dog wasn't too impressed with the local inquisitive rabbits but he's only young and will learn, hopefully. Highly recommended and we will almost certainly be back.

Speechless !

Just spent an amazing weekend here at Ferry Meadows , we've a 4 yr old who loved the new park ( although supervision is essential as some of the older children are a bit frugal with there language and actions ) but the site is superb clean tidy well laid out with plenty of hard standing and grass pitches, spotless toilets and showers lovely on site shop and very friendly staff. A 10 min walk to the main open spaces in Ferry Meadow which opens up to fishing ,sailing ,wildlife, walks, cycling etc fab for kids as there plenty of space to run the excess energy off with lovely play parks a little train and plenty of things to see and do ! Never been to Ferry Meadows before and Carnot wait to go back to see the rest of what we didn't have time to see !  If in doubt try Ferry Meadows out you won't be disappointed lovely place

Fantastic Site!!!!

First time we have been to this site and for me even to Peterborough. Site is easy to find and has good access. First impression as we drove along the drive into the site was how well presented the it was. Clean and tidy everywhere. The hard standing pitch we had was nice and level with plenty of clean water, grey water and elsan points close by. The bathroom fascilities are the cleanest we have been too on any site. I cannot fault Ferry Meadows site. It was really nice to see the semi tame rabbits hopping around the grounds as well. Very well located near to the steam railway for trips into the city and some nice places to eat close to the site as well. There are miles of well maintained walking paths around Nene Valley park and cycle tracks as well. The only thing that i can slightly say negativley is that the Nene Valley park next door has those annoying metal plates on their car park exit which clatter after every single car drives over them. You do get used to it fairly quick and it does become unnoticable. Will without any doubt be returning

Lovely weekend break

My 2 dogs, my hubby and I had a lovely relaxed stay here, despite the rain showers.  Nene park is a great walk for us and the dogs, we walked for miles around all the lakes and the dogs had a little swim (away from the fishers and the water sports).  There are a few childrens parks dotted around, lots of BBQ stands and picnic tables to utilise during your visit and a nice little cafe, all just a 2 minutes walk away from the site.  There's also a lovely steam train to take a ride on, even the dogs are welcome to.  We would highly recommend and look forward to a future visit.

Ferry Good time

We just got back from a 4 night stay at Ferry Meadows. We've been once before and some things have changed, there's a new extended play on the pitches on the grassy side of the road which was a surprise as we round the corner to our previous stays pitch oops dead end! reversing skills tested no problem!!! We then found a great pitch, handy services and toilet area just close enough. The wardens were having a tough time with recent rain and some mowing was over due but hey the pitches were in great order. Well done. Couple of notes, you are greeted at the entrance by a lady taking names which in our opinion was a bit of a safety concern as it leaves your unit stuck in the park road whilst she checks your names off! The park and walks round the lakes are fabulous as we now have a dog this was grat fun and he could run off in the meadow area, there's even an agility course! We close our review with a sad note and this is neither the wardens or the area but actually the members. Using the mens showers i was faced with a used baby nappy and bits in the shower trough, of one cubicle and the remnants in another, this is disgusting and if any member feels this acceptable then shout up now!!! It's not!! Also in the basin area somebody is obviously looked after very well at home and obviously felt that they did not have to clear up their beard trimmings from around the sink basin. Please Please members and visitors alike lets give the wardens a chance and be considerate to them and your fellow members. Thanks all wardens at Ferry meadows we'll be back soon.

Watch out for Adolf

We had a visitor (my daughter), who parked in the visitors' area, but we needed to transfer a heavy case to the caravan. This meant for a few minutes that we had 2 cars at the pitch - how terrible! One of the minions with hi-vis jackets saw me using the barrier key to let my daughter through and castigated me for not telling Reception that we had a visitor. He claimed that "Reception needs to know who is on the site at all times". As a member of the Caravan Club for over 40 years, I've never felt less welcome on ANY CC site during that period.
