Autumn Stay

The facilities and the location are excellent with a lovely walk into Peterborough City Centre without the need to go near a road. The welcome however was something else, I would expect better from a Boot Camp.

An Autum Break

We always try to come to ferry meadows in November for a week, although the site can have a lot of people staying even in November, it's still peaceful. Location is spot on for us as we both like Peterborough shopping centre, and if we're lucky the railway may run the odd train, the site and the park look brill at this time of year, all the different colours of the trees etc. Last but for me the best, a river and lakes to fish.

Fantastic location

Lovely site not far off the A1 but also very close to the city centre for shopping and even closer (next door) to miles of stunning walks.  Perfect for a relaxing break and for walking the dog. There is constant road noise due to the central location but it is distant and unobtrusive. Disappointed that radio 2 wasn't playing in the facilities.

Hard to fault this site

Stayed here for 6 nights in November 2016 Location - within Ferry Meadows country park with love,y walks with peace & quiet or activity if you want it. Walk through into Peterborough City centre with the usual amenities you would expect - walking distance from a number of gastro pubs/ restaurants  Orion Meadows public golf course is a short walk up the road too Facilities - clean, multiple stations for water & waste & CWD Wardens - friendly helpful & welcoming As the title says - hard to fault this site - it has everything you might need & more

Lovely site - fab in the autumn

Stayed for a week at end of October just when the trees around the site and in the Ferry Meadows Country Park were at their most glorious.  Good facilities, lovely hot showers and block always clean even tho part of our stay was doing half term so lots of children about and site was full.  Site wardens very helpful.  Nice to be able to walk into Peterborough without seeing a single car.

Great Site

Spent 2 nights here at the end of October. This is a perfect location for walking/cycling. Also perfect for the city centre which is 3 miles away. If you don't have children, best to stay on the West side as there is no play area. All the facilities are the usual high standards but make sure you have a 25 metre electric hook up cable as some points are quite a way away. A very busy site but felt relaxed & private while in our van.

One of the best

This was our first visit to this site and booked at the last minute. We arrived mid afternoon to find that there were only three pitches left but we found one of them totally suitable for our 3 night stay.  The Ferry Meadows Country Park is on the doorstep and the walks and facilities there are superb. Loads of paths and facilities to chose from especially during the warmer months when boat rides, nature rambles, boat hire, miniature train rides, horse riding centre, cycle hire, fishing, archery, barbecue sites etc are all available and the Nene Valley Railway station is but an amble away. This is the best route into the centre of Peterborough there is and a discount system for CC members. Two cafés serve the Park so refreshments are none too far away. The CC site is up to the usual standard with helpful and friendly wardens, although during our visit, the autumn leaves were a constant source of work for the wardens, keeping the leaves off the access roads and the service points.....hope that the drainage system can cope with the ingestion of leaves!!!! Forgot to say that we stayed on the West Site where the amenity block is central to all pitches and virtually all were hardstanding. The East Site is biased towards grass sites again with one central amenity block. One small touch we liked was that the box for the electronic card for barrier access to the site was situated immediately by the card reader by the barrier.....no getting out off the car to deposit the card when leaving. Just a small thing but so convenient.....other security sites please note. Peterborough is a very good shopping centre with a great variety of shops and amenities. The cathedral is well worth a visit and NO CHARGE....just donations, unlike other cathedrals where you have to pay for admission. We will return for more walks and exploring Ferry Meadows Country Park and Peterborough.
