Brilliant Relaxing Site

We stayed here in the Easter Holidays over the East side with the big park as we stayed here last year in the Summer and our kids absolutely loved it! Now age 9 & 7, its still a very good site, however they have had to put in place things like a code for the toilet block which makes it awkward for children to use, the buttons are too high for them and to fiddly. We came back here after staying last year as we felt our kids were safe, but now it seems the wardens are a little more regimental, but still we all had fun. Fish & chips on the park is a must, they are gorgeous! Get their quick, the queue can get long! Plenty to do outside of the park, close by there are some beautiful walks, steam train, lake, another park, coffee shop and canal. This is a nice park to relax at and would we come back again, yes we would :-)

Brilliant for Families

We stayed here last July 2016 on the East side with their newly built park, the kids then aged 6 & 8 absolutely loved it! We hardly saw them, they made some good friends, our little boy was always in the football area. The pitch spaces are far enough apart, we were quite happy to sit and chill while our children played - If they're happy, were happy! Plenty to do outside of the park, close by there are some beautiful walks, steam train, lake, another park, coffee shop, pub with fantastic food! Should have reviewed this site along time ago, it is was well deserved, it so far is the best for us!

Everything you want from a caravan holiday

Facilities and local attractions for this site are well documented elsewhere. It meets all your expectations and more. If you love caravanning this is one of the best places to come. Early morning at Ferry Meadows. Sitting outside in the sun with the first coffee of the day watching the squirrels and rabbits foraging for food, listening to the birds singing in the trees. First dog walkers of the day venture out with a cheery hello and then the smell of bacon starts to drift on the breeze. The procession of people to the toilet blocks begins, some people ignoring everyone others happy to chat. Should you really be wearing that in public lol. Then the daily chores begin, toilets and waste water containers are emptied, water barrels are topped up. Then you hear the chink of bottles as people carry the empties to the bin areas. Some people looking sheepish, others with smug looks as if to say look how much we drank last night. Those that are leaving pack up ready for the journey ahead. The wardens begin going about their business with cheery bonhomie and the kids laughter begins as they come out to play. Then tat all important decision What to do today............. That is the question

If you have not been before its good, if your a regular customer its gone off a bit

Been coming to Ferry Meadows since it first opened !!!! For new comers its a standard Caravan Club site, but if you have grown up with the site the current standards have slipped. 1. A new anti traveller barrier has been installed, just fine but no instructions at the gate to gain access etc. when one can hardly get of the public road and certainly blocks the public road if there are two units. Our visitor had different instructions from different Wardens. One of the wardens also had a strop when our visitor did as she had been told the day previous, hardly joined up thinking. A good instruction sign would be helpful. 2. Once on site the trees and shrubs have all become overgrown and in parts there is an oppressive feeling because of the extensive growth. Yes if you had not been you probably would think it is what it is. Could do with a good sharp haircut. Grass cutting appears to now take a back seat !! 3. Just small things have gone off, like every tap with a hose fitted appears to have kinked the hose over time, spraying water every where other than where it is aimed at. All it needs is ideally a better hose quality and the kinked section removed. Not a big job but apparently to big for any of the Wardens to carry our a service. Overall the difference between a 3 and 4 star hotel where one cares and one is not bothered, yet at over £30 a night it really should be first class and its not. Sad really as Ferry Meadows used to be very smart, now there seems a bit of a attitude with some of the wardens whilst some are just fine, again nice if they were all of the same customer standard. Perhaps time the club did a Peer review of how things are working or not !!!

Mediocre

Excellent booking in process - very busy but wardens kept the queue moving & booking in slick & organised. We pitched on the side with the playground as our youngest is 7. Grass pitch, spacious but not very private - issue with kids running through the pitch, even after dusk & also adults walking through our pitch, inconsiderately using it as a cut through. Very noisy neighbours one night due to their visitors - when will people realise that when in an awning, the noise is not contained? Noise disturbance until midnight. At the beginning of our stay (we stayed 29th May until 3rd June) bins not emptied enough & black bin bags were strewn in the bin area. Shower block closest to our pitch (219) was busy but you didn't have to queue or wait for a shower but hot water was lacking in the ladies, my better half advises men's were hot but slow running. Men's & Ladies need a major refurb. Shower wall boards are rotten to the core, patched up in multiple places with filler - you could touch the boards anywhere & they're spongey - harbouring bacteria, unhygienic (separate complaint to head office about this, wholly unacceptable when so much has been spent on rebranding & facilities are left in this condition - where are the club's priorities?) Playground & ball "cage" excellent. Excellent cycle paths locally, easy 3.5 mile route into Peterborough. Country park beautiful - location of this site faultless.

Brilliant location brilliant site

Brilliant wardens who keep everything clean and tidy. No faults at all for Ferry Meadows and given the size of this site the wardens kept it looking very tidy indeed. We were given a choice to pitch on the East side with the large play area (across the road from reception) or the West side and decided we liked this side the best as its quieter. Pitches are usual high standard and are a mix of mostly hard standing and some grass on the West and seem to be mainly grass on the East No issues in reversing into the pitch as plenty of room. Beware the members that move the pitch marker posts! I reversed up to mine and one of the wardens told me it was in the wrong place but I was quite happy to move the unit over to put this right. Toilet facilities spot on despite site being full never had to wait for a shower and loads of hot water. Always very clean and in good repair Tv reception. There are link up points on the power distribution boards you can connect to as signal here is poor. Take a long lead! You can also obtain same from the well stocked shop. Wifi - escaping the rat race for a week so wasn't intending to use but from our pitch the coverage was very patchy. Mobile coverage. My EE became NN nothing nowhere. Very poor signal. Walk outside to the road and you can make a call. Three also poor. O2 worked well tho. These are minor issues and shouldn't detract from staying here Have to say that the nearby Nene Valley Railway is excellent as is the parkland behind the site. Hardly used the car in our 7 night stay. Walked everywhere ! We will definitely return here again.

One of the best sites/area

Excellent site. On arrival it was very busy but the wardens kept the queue moving. We were advised to pitch on the west side as we wanted a hard standing and only 2 adults and this was ideal for us. Toilet block/dishwashing facilities were spotless and the wardens even put a pot of hand cream for use as well. Warden did approach us as we had incorrectly parked but as we still had enough room between us and next door we didn't have to move. It would have been a pain to move but the wardens do have rules that needs to be kept. We won't be making the same mistake again. Wardens seem cheery enough and always seemed busy. Brilliant to be so close to the country park and cycling was a real treat as we could also use the country lanes and everywhere was flat. Peterborough is within walking/cycling distance - about 3.5 miles along the cycle path. Taxi is £9 from Peterborough to site, didn't use the bus but I think they were quite frequent. Will definitely return but in the summer months. Fish and chips on site 3 times a week but unfortunately didn't have the chance to sample. Ice cream van every evening.

One of our favourite sites

We spent 2 quiet relaxing weeks here and as usual we enjoyed our stay,if I wanted to be pernickety I would suggest more than one rake/brush in the showers ,when people have finished showering it would be good if they cleaned the floor behind them but there were no tools to do so. Also as this was supposedly a gold rated wifi site. I paid £25 for Internet which was frequently unavailable, we did mention this to the warden in the office but was only answered with a shrug of the shoulders so be warned do not pay more than 1 day if you need wifi and see what the response is first, if you cannot pick up e-mails then you will not achieve much else...all that said and done we will certainly return and enjoy the well kept site.
