Good for families

Our favourite site yet, but we do say that every time!

If you have a dog you will love this site. The site has a small dog walk but also many walks from site or a short drive away to park and walk. There is a fuel station in Dulverton at the Subaru garage but you could easily park up and not have to use your car again. Within minutes walking distance there is a chip shop, co-op, fruit shop, butcher, baker (not sure if there is a candle stick maker) and many cafes and gift shops. Walk out of site and turn left into the car park which leads to a small shop/museum type building, here you can buy maps to plan walks. Also the tea room in Winsford has printed walks for sale. There is an ice cream parlour on the way to the Tarr Steps car park where you can see the cows being milked and then buy the ice cream made from the milk (So we were told unfortunately it was shut each time we tried to go). All cafes and pubs are dog friendly in Dulverton and all staff are welcoming, we went in most and enjoyed everything. We had a very wet Sunday so took the long drive to Lands End Farm in Mudgely, BS28 4TU - Wilkins Cider, near Glastonbury, here we bought cider straight from the farm, no posh shop, just walk into the barn, where you will find friendly locals drinking cider. A welcoming free half for tasting is swiftly offered! As there are two toilet blocks you never need to plan a shower as one is always open. Plus all the positives others have said.
