Enjoyable stay at a city site

I think people need to remember that this is a city site. I agree the approach isn’t particularly encouraging but the site itself has nice big pitches, is secluded, spotlessly clean, well run by lovely friendly staff, perfectly safe and a 10 minute walk from the Cramond shoreline. The flight path is nearby but planes don’t fly 24/7 and we are usually out of the site for most of the day exploring. At the time of our stay there was only one facilities block open but we didn’t have to queue to use the showers or toilets. I wasn’t impressed with lots of folk using the washroom sinks to do their washing up in though, because they couldn’t be bothered to wait for a proper sink to become available outside. The showers are some of the best we’ve used on sites, hot and no push buttons! We originally booked this site to got to a concert at the castle and decided to have a weeks holiday around this. We sourced cheap parking online for the concert and had no issues. There’s loads to do near by, walk over to Cramond Island at low tide, walk the Almond river path, take a boat trip to the amazing Abbey on Inchcolm Island, the Dalmeny estate, the bridges walk, South Queensferry, the lovely NT village of Culross, Water of Leith walkway, exploring the Pentland hills, all without even going into the city centre. There are nice places to eat in South Queensferry and lots of supermarkets near by. We would certainly visit this site again.
