GREAT SITE FOR VISITING EDINBURGH

Our reason for staying at this site was to visit Edinburgh. As motorhomers, it is easy to jump on a bus into the city rather than try and take your vehicle and park it. The buses run every 10 minutes (within a 10 minute walk from the site). I counted 31 bus stops until you reach the city, which took about 59 minutes to do 5 miles!! The Royal Yacht is accessible by bus which we hugely enjoyed. The site itself, as described in previous reviews, is unfortunately, situated in a very poor area with a couple of establishments down the road catering for the homeless and we encountered one or two individuals sitting on the grass verges with their cans of lager. BUT having said that, there is a lovely walk along the Firth of Forth promenade right near the site, which attracts a lot of tourists. The facilities at the site are up to the usual excellent standards, and the wardens are wonderfully helpful. The site is really attractive and full of shrubs and trees, some of the pitches having hedging between them. Yes, there is a lot of noise from approaching aircraft into Edinburgh airport, but as aeroplane fanatics, we LOVED it as the planes fly over at around 1500 ft! We really liked this site as a means of visiting a great city.
