Good for families

Delighted to give this place a try despite other reviews.

We accidentally booked this site after mistaking it for another. After realising our mistake we read reviews, including the most recent and began to regret our decision. We were concerned about the ‘detritus’ from nearby areas, concerns about safety from nearby neighbours (out with the site) and also the noise from the flight path directly over-head. However, we arrived and were greeted by exceptional friendly staff, an exceptionally tidy and well-kept site and immaculate, well appointed pitches. The facilities, including toilet block, shower block and fresh & waste water facilities were some of the most clean we have ever visited. On initial entry to the toilet/shower block it is a bit dated looking and reminded me of an early 00’s swimming pool but on every visit to a shower or toilet, morning, noon or night, the place was spotless. We could not fault it and would say it is the cleanest Club Site we have used. The site itself is in a brilliant location for Edinburgh, The Lothians and Fife and was very quiet and friendly. Yes, there is a hotel out with the site around 300m down the road which appears to house many refugees but my wife, my 3 year old son and myself walked past it every day en route to the promenade and encountered no issues and didn’t feel unsafe in the slightest. We left the site to get a bus to Edinburgh City centre and it took between 15-25 minutes dependent on the traffic. Nearby, there is an abundance of shops and retail parks within a 10 minute drive to meet all your needs. I was also concerned about the noise from the flight path as previously mentioned by other site users however, found this to be unobtrusive. Indeed, there are aircraft flying over-head at times but the noise from them lasts a maximum of 20 seconds and flights are not passing so frequently that it is a constant nuisance. In a nutshell, we were very anxious about coming to this site but are so glad we didn’t cancel our booking. We have had a wonderful stay, in-fact as I write this, I am sitting in our caravan on the site with 2 nights still to go and we are already planning our next visit. Please do not let the negative reviews put you off visiting here as, from our experience, many of the issues are not as terrible as they appear to be. If you want to enjoy a friendly, quiet holiday, close to a major city with all its attractions, close to a fantastic beach with views across to Fife, the Forth Bridges and a site which is immaculate, then visit this one!!! The surroundings are not as ‘unappealing’ as some may suggest.
