Excellent and Professional staff/site

I absolutely loved this site , a few of the reviews I find very “touchy” on the general condition of this site . The air traffic hardly causes any issues as I see it , maybe some noise for a few seconds when there is a plane overhead . Firstly it’s in an excellent area for visiting both Leith and Edinburgh City , there are great facilities, Morrisons, ALDI, plenty take-always. The information centre is great. Staff were superb and all facilities were working well. To say the facilities require an upgrade for me is way off the mark, everything is clean ( very) functional, accessible and well looked after. We can all agree that the costs of some sites are expensive, however that’s an issue to take directly with the company. This is a great site and I’d have no hesitation returning.

Still good enough to return again

Generally quiet and peaceful with no football being played on adjacent sports fields this visit, but a lot of planes coming into Edinburgh Airport cannot be ignored if you are on the north side of site. Endless attractions in and around Edinburgh. Parking can be expensive so make use of the very good bus service, the bus stop being a brisk 5 minute walk from the site. There is a minibus service between the site and city centre. Normally we take our bikes to explore the city on an extensive set of cycle paths but on this September visit we chose not to take them after using the Club's bike lockers last time because of safety concerns. Wardens were super helpful with ideas and advice, keeping the site clean and well presented on top of the enormous task of hedging and tree pruning on this well screened, spacious site,

Wardens are great but desperately needs a refurb

We have just returned from this site and firstly I must say that the wardens on site were great, very friendly, most helpful and always of a cheery manner, could not fault them at all. The pitches on the site are of a good size and whole area is kept beautifully, what lets it down are the toilet blocks, although kept clean, they are well past their sell by date and definitely need refurbishing, things are just looking tatty and no matter how much scrubbing or bleach to use it will not get rid of the problem. This is an expensive site to stay at it was £43.70 per night on a service pitch. I know this is peak times etc, but CAMC, come on, if I am paying that I expect the very best. On an aside we went for the tattoo, (which was awesome) and arranged Graham to pick us up and collect from the site and take us to the venue, he sadly did not show up at 8pm as it transpired he had an airport run which delayed him, so he said. Fortunately another taxi dropped off and we got in to the city in time, by this time it was 8.35 pm. The couple who were waiting as well contacted graham, but could not get a definitive answer as to when he would arrive. I spoke to him and got no change asking if he would take us back, he then rang me back saying he had space for us. He did take us back but stated under no circumstances was he taking the other couple back, which was not good at all. I mentioned this to the wardens and they were very surprised as they said Graham was very reliable. At the end of the day we got to see the show, but it was just disappointing that we had this problem. Would we return, well if they refurb it, yes, but as it stands at the moment no.

Great site for Edinburgh

I want to start by saying a massive Thank You to Ray, he helped us out at the last minute when we were let down by the site we were booked in. This site is perfect for Edinburgh, as said before it’s £8 return per person with Graham, but that is door to door service, yes the bus is cheaper as it always will be, but it is a tidy walk to the stop. The pitches are large, we fitted our twin axle and 3m awning and car comfortably. The facilities were very clean, I could not fault them, a little dated but tons of hot water. The site is under an air path but I’ll be honest after the first few hours you don’t notice them at all, and it’s something I would normally notice. As for Asylum seekers at a hotel, yes so what, they bothered nobody, it was families. It’s a great walk along the promenade and dogs are allowed on the beach. Every member of staff I spoke to where very helpful and friendly. Thank you Ray for saving our holiday *****

Pricey for what you get

This was our first experience of a caravan and motorhome club site after joining this year. Unfortunately during our stay I cancelled any further membership as I was disappointed with the value for money, it is costly to stay here and as other reviewers have mentioned you are On a busy flight path for Edinburgh airport, and there are two homeless hostels directly opposite the site which gives a feel of a run down area. The shower and toilet block was kept nice and clean but it was dated and in need of some repairs. No shop on site even though it claims to have one it is merely a couple of shelves with UHT milk, Pringles and a couple of tinned items and a domestic freezer with some ice creams. The electric on the site is clearly an issue no more than 1 appliance at a time and the shower block lost all power needing to be closed on our last evening, there was a slightly smaller block on the other side of the site but with so many people needing to use it, it became an issue. We used the minibus and Graham was a great character but it was quite expensive also at £8 each return where the public bus was £3.60 each return. No near shops for supplies, a good 25 minute walk to Morrisons along the unlit path. We loved Edinburgh but would not stay at this site if visiting again in the future.

Second stay

We have just returned from a 9 day stay at the site and it was every bit as good as we remembered from 5 years ago. The Wardens are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Just want to call out a massive thanks to Ian & Michelle who took pity on us and ran us to the car hire depot when we were let down by the taxi company - and they were on the way in their motorhome to their next relief warden jobs in Kendal! That really is going the extra mile! The facilities on site are spotless and the grounds kept in tip top order. Bus stops are a short walk away and at £1.80 single fare, a real bargain. We only had the car hire for half our stay so relied on the bus in and out of town with no complaints. The aircraft noise is there but to be honest it didn’t really affect us and we tuned out to it after a couple of days. It stops about 11pm and doesn’t start until 6.30/7.00 am so no big issues - unless you live in the middle of nowhere! Some visit tips - Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh Botanical Gardens, Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies, The Real Mary King’s Close underground Tour, afternoon tea on The Fingal ship at Ocean Terminal. We had a great time but unfortunately won’t be back as whilst we were away we sold the motorhome and she is shortly moving onto pastures new for new adventures. Thank you Edinburgh site for making our last motorhome holiday a great success.

ished e could have stayed longer

We only had 1 night here on our route home and we wished we could have more time here. A lovely walk down to Crammond promenade and very dog friendly. Tide depending you can walk out to Crammond Island too. Crammond falls a few minutes drive away also. From the site there is a return mini bus to Edinburgh at times to suit most and a regular bus service runs not to far away. The site was very clean and well laid out with good facilities. Glad to see the bins are still on site, we find this makes it easier to recycle. The only down side was the proximity to Edinburgh Airport and the planes going over. They did seem to be quiet overnight. The staff were very helpful when we arrived, its was sol lovely to be greeted with a smile. Our pitch size was adequate for our needs. We need to go back and explore more.

Nice Site

Friendly and helpful Staff on arrival. Pitches were a good size. Facilities were clean and tidy. There were planes overhead during the day and evening but this stopped at night. However, the road to the site was in a dreadful state with pot holes, uneven filling in, lumps and bumps, were told by the site staff that this is not something they can control and to contact the Council. The Cramond beach area was a short walk from the site and had a lovely beach with the opportunity of spotting a few wading birds and Herons. All in all a good site.

TAKE EARPLUGS! THE PLANES WILL KEEP YOU AWAKE

Stayed here for two nights while visiting family in Edinburgh. The site was nice, staff were lovely and toilet block was spotless, but the planes flying over every few minutes at low altitude, day and night, drove us nuts! It’s a real shame as the site is really close to everything you need in Edinburgh. Sadly, we will not be returning!

One night in Edinburgh

Stayed at the Edinburgh site for one night only, it was a stop off on the way to another club site. This is a lovely site in a great location with good facilities, ideal for visiting the city. Only major issue for us was the noise of aircraft landing and taking off from the nearby city airport throughout the night, and whilst not something the club can do anything about, it should be specifically mentioned on the site write-up so that people are aware of it before booking.
