June 2016

We were pleased to see that the play area had been upgraded. The new equipment was fantastic and safe for our 6 and 8 year olds. A definite asset to the site.

Brilliant Site

What a difference a year makes. We visit this site every year. Last year we felt it needed a big tidy up. Well done to the hard working wardens, shrubs had been cut well back, pitches weed free & well edged. Toilets were spotless at all times although they are in need of an update. Pleasant helpful, friendly & hard working wardens. Thank you all for making our stay enjoyable.

Well placed

Stayed for 3 nights, site good, wardens are excellent, pitches are good. The site is great for dog walking, either way out of the site, but turn left and follow road down to the prom keep left and you come to Cramond a lovely little harbour. Bus Trips into Edinburgh cost £4 return and this can be used for any travel around Edinburgh, no extra cost, brilliant.

Excellent Site for visiting Edinburgh and surrounding area

We used this site as the 2nd week of a four week holiday as we wanted to visit Edinburgh. Enjoyed our stay and saw all the usual sites (Castle, Holyrood House, Royal Yacht Britannia, Princes Street Gardens and many other popular sites. Also used the Tour buses for 2 days where you can also buy entry to the main sites at a discount). Travelled into Edinburgh each day on the local buses (only £4 return). Also visited the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies one day. Could have spent another fortnight there to see everything we wanted to see. Some aircraft noise from Edinburgh Airport as planes taking off every few minutes during the day.

Pity about the showers

Had a few days here last year and enjoyed it so much that we returned for a week. Visited Britannia, Leith Gala, journeyed to Tweedbank on the newly opened rail link to the borders and visited Beautiful Melrose Abbey, Also visited the 3 bridges over the Forth - spectacular to see! Had a very enjoyable week even though the weather was typical of Scotland. The site is well laid out, is kept immaculately and the wardens are friendly and hardworking. BUT why oh why is nothing being done about the showers. They are clean but the wall boarding is ageing and black mould spores are imbedded into the joins and there are damp patches on the ceiling- not pleasant. This is so disappointing for a club site which serves visitors to a city which is a major tourist attraction within Scotland and also receives a large number of visitors from overseas.

Great site to use as a base

I stayed at the Edinburgh site for 5 nights. The arrival time of 9am is very unusual but for someone that was travelling from the south coast of England, driving overnight, it was a real bonus. I was pitched up by midday when I'm only just starting by then on many other sites. This site itself is quite big but nicely spaced out. The facilities are clean and well maintained. There is a good dog walk on site and the beach is very close and my dogs loved it there. The wardens are friendly and eager to help. The wifi is helpful and the TV signal was good. However, this is not a site that I would use to go to relax at. It is really a transient place, lots of coming and going of units. Most visitors appear to use it as a base to visit Edinburgh and the surrounds for a few days. It felt a little 'unfriendly' as a result.

We'll be back!

We (myself & my 17 year old daughter) stayed for one night while on a mammoth tour of the country for University open days. On arrival staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly and even though three outfits had all arrived at once there was no waiting. I was given information about buses and transport to the city and a visit Edinburgh brochure with plenty of information. The site was fully booked but it didn't feel over crowded. It was quiet although it must be reasonably close to he airport as we were woken by the first flight when it took off at about 5am. The toilet blocks were spotlessly clean even after the morning rush and I particularly liked the piped music in the loos to hide the ahem unwanted sounds!! We took the bus into Edinburgh in the evening and although it's a bit of a trek to the bus stop - a good 15 minute walk - it was very easy and only cost £1.60 each. You do need to have the correct money though as it's an automated system and they do not give any change. Dogs are also allowed on the buses :-) I will definitely return to this site with hubby and dog for a proper stay as we are intending to do a Scottish Tour next year.

Great Location

This site is in a great position for exploring Edinburgh, in our case before moving on up north. It is a large site but, very well kept by the wardens who were always friendly but, appeared really busy each time we saw them. We had a problem with our electricity supply not working, within minutes of us reporting this a warden had stopped his hedge cutting and sorted us out - excellent service. We found it a very friendly site with most people acknowledging us. The route in from the east is to the north of the city and reflects a busy city road for a number of miles, while the route from the west is a lot easier and shorter. My only negative comment regards the height of the shower heads, great if you are under 4 foot 6 but, not so good otherwise, although the blocks were really clean and looked after.
