4 Night stay for the Tattoo and Fringe Festival

We stayed in our motorhome during early August in order to visit Edinburgh and the surrounding area. We had a Dutch friend with us, so we needed to have a nice site with god facilities. The site is very attractive when you enter with a very pleasant looking reception area. Having stayed here several times in the past, the site is now pretty mature and looks good. We did notice the noise of the planes on approach to Edinburgh Airport and there was some noise from the adjacent sports ground, but it wasn't a problem. The number of showers in both Mens and Ladies in the East block needs to be addressed. There were only 4 in each which did cause some congestion. The grey water disposal for motorcaravans is very poor. You have to lift a metal cover and some of these covers are so badly placed, you have to drive the wrong way on the one way system to be able to position your outfit correctly. I have also experienced on other sites, these covers being frozen in place! Time to change them in line with the best practise used on the continent. Access to the city has also been improved, with a taxi leaving from outside reception. Together with our friends, we did the 15min walk upto Salveson Cres where we caught the No27 bus into the city. You can also catch the No16 vis Leith where you can visit the Royal Yacht Britannia. Tickets are £1.6 per journey, or £4 for a day ticket. You need the correct change. There is also a No37 night bus back to Silverknowles after midnight which we used. As the path back to site is unlit, it's worth making sure you carry a torch with you. Overall, a very attractive site, well placed for the city and surrounding attractions that needs a small number of improvements to bring it back to an excellent rating
