Very Dissapointing
This was probably one of the worst sites we've stayed on in a white. The 5 star rating is not deserved. Unsure why the CAMC wants to affiliate itself to this.
Check in
Very friendly staff, nice easy to follow instructions, the site is barriered and you get an access code. Better than fumbling around with key fobs.
Pitch
Nice view but narrow, you'd struggle with an 8ft wide caravan and awning. Our van and awning filled the entire pitch, car had to be parked on boggy grass. The bollard was broken in half and taped back together. Pitches could do with being tidied up and made bigger. We had a lovely view of the lagoon from our pitch and our request for a specific pitch was accepted.
Facilities - Use your own
The newish self-contained "en suite" shower block unless your going there just after its cleaned it was filthy. Toilets were blocked, paper everywhere. The one afternoon we went in there was sick/s**t all over the floors and walls in one room. That was there until the next morning. The showers you cannot control the temperature, they are run by a sensor timer which takes ages to feed hot water through, then it stops, you frantically wave your hand in front of it to start it again then the water comes through cold again. Then the lights go out as the sensor can't pick you up in the cubicle!
The toilet/shower block
Absolutely tiny cubicles but at least you can leave the shower on, again there is no heat control. The block again could do with a really good clean, there was a really odd smell all stay in there, floor looked it hadn't been mopped in ages. Generally, very scruffy this block was missing ceiling tiles, very old and tired. Needs a serious refurb.
Both shower blocks were unheated and cold. They need to be cleaned twice a day; id have hated to have seen the state of them if the site was full.
Lots of bins around the site which were emptied frequently. The actual site itself is generally well kept
Access
Site has easy access, there is a lane to the site but its only used by a few houses and the site itself, There a bus stop at the end of the lane which runs to Weymouth and there’s access to the coastal path from the site. Its an hour walk into Weymouth or 15 minutes by bus.
We did have a power cut one evening that knocked the entire field out. We rang the emergency number and the welcome we were met with was frosty to say the least. It was sorted within 15 minutes but would have made me think twice about ringing it again.
Would I stay here again? Nope.
