First time visit, so glad we did

We were on a small tour starting in Salisbury and ending in Lyme Regis. We only stayed for the one night, but wow what a beautiful site to stop at. The facilities were second to none, beautiful pitch for our campervan, superb shower facilities, in our block just like having your own bathroom. Whilst the site doesn't cater, they do provide some great food via the vans on site, pizza, fish & chips, breakfast and they provide takeaway menus so that you can have your favourite meal delivered to site, eat in the pub, they even supply the cutlery etc.. and wash up for you. Dog friendly, even down to a dog bath facility. Just blown away with the thought and service provided by this site. Will be visiting again.

One of the best

As a couple who like quiet friendly sites this was a complete surprise. Thought we would try it for a couple of nights on our way back home. Very friendly welcome from all staff we came in contact with. Loo and shower block clean and well kept as was the rest of the site. Very good shop and bar area. Great idea that you can order take away, from Town, and have it delivered to bar, who will provide plates and cutlery ........ and will wash up! How great is that! Don’t think we would be keen through the school holidays but outside of those we will definitely return. Handy for motorhomers wishing to use public transport, as bus stops at the end of the lane! Thanks for all your hard work to make a great site and enjoyable stay.

Best place ever

Having read one of the last reviews I very nearly didn’t book so glad I went ahead and experienced it for myself. The campsite is set in one of the most beautiful positions overlooking the Fleet Lagoon, large gravelled serviced pitches with views across to open sea. Fascilities are very clean and well kept. I would certainly recommend to all

Great place to stay

Great place to base yourself to explore the Jurassic coast. The site is maintained to a high standard. The toilets are cleaned by an army of cleaners all day and into the evening, lovely team. The staff were all very helpful and give lots of advice. There is a bar and Festival food van, takeaways to order. They even let you take your food in while you are having a pint of two. The South West Coast path is well worth your time. Great views over the Chesil Beach. Cycle path from the lane to Weymouth.

where to start

we do not understand why the caravan club would want to be associated with this site as we found the facilities filthy and certainly not in keeping with the caravan club standards. the shower blocks smelt bad and it was difficult to asses when or if they had been cleaned. rules were not adhered to i.e. no noise policy from 23.00 hrs to 08.00 hrs this included music and loud conversation i.e party mode as a number of caravan guests constantly played music from 07.30 to 23.30 the following day until 00.30 and the next day until 01.30 am we did complain to the staff after the first two nights also other guests mentioned they were going to complain we did not see any improvement and thank goodness we left the following day the site was overrated overpriced and not for us...

Back Again in June

Came here last year for the first time and loved it so back again. Young reception staff seem to have it sorted, we had asked for specific pitches as we were two units they didn't manage to give us the ones we requested but did keep us together which was just what we wanted. Pitches are well marked and you are shown on a paper map how to park and which area of grass is yours, so simple and works! Unfortunately near where we were pitched we noticed one unit take advantage spreading well over their pitch (caravan, full awning and fenced off garden area) intruding on either side, then a second family and car arrived later complete with dogs to share their caravan! Not sure if the site staff were aware but it would have been so much better had two pitches been allocated so those either side didn't loose out! Very clean toilet block with the loos separate from the showers. Large shop selling everything from food to umbrellas, etc. Also hot food available on various days from just outside the shop, also a bar on site!

Large Site

Stayed for a short time on this large affiliated site at the beginning of July when weather was hot & dry. It was well cared for with 3 clean facility blocks – 1 old 2 newer with individual shower rooms. Helpful friendly young reception staff in the reception/shop which had a reasonable selection of basic food essentials and a lot of camping bits & children’s toys. There is a play area, bar & 3 take away catering trailers – 1 for breakfast, 1 Pizza & 1 Fish & Chips on different evenings. A busy popular site especially at week ends with families. Lots of tent campers as well as caravans & some motorhomes. Need to drive or catch bus at top of lane to Weymouth for beach. Many pitches need levellers. There are public footpaths direct from site onto coast path & small church of “Moonfleet” book fame but found nothing else of interest within easy walking distance.

Weekend stay in the snow.

Apart from heavy snow during our stay we found this site was fine. Good sized hard standings although when busy the roads are narrow on the site & some may find it a challenge to park their caravan. The shower blocks were immaculate & staff friendly. I asked for a sea view which we were given but had it been busy my view would of not been so pleasing. Beautiful countryside around the site but families should be aware that the lagoon water edge area is not suitable for use as a beach, it was very unappealing & I wouldn’t even want to walk on it. Coastal path at the bottom of the site but unfortunately at this time of year it was very muddy. Families will love the bar & play area but for me I personally think it would seem far too congested at busier times & the whole rows of caravans looking into each other’s windows just isn’t for me. I therefore think I should try a CL which may be more suitable.

Fab Holiday beginning of October 2017

We recently stayed here for a week at the beginning of October, had no issues what so ever, we stayed on a hard standing service pitch, which wasn't level, but when you look around at the site, a lot of the pitches slope, but most caravan owners are prepared for this. Toilets were lovely and clean and warm, and the shower block was the same, the heated floor was great fully received after a days walking, hot shower, and they were clean. The Barn (Bar) was open Thursday, Friday and Saturday whilst we were there, they were very friendly and welcoming, and the area with the log burner in and the settees around was lovely, and good way to get to talk to other holiday makers. Dogs are welcome and they encourage you to order your takeaway and you can eat it in front of the fire. We did walk into Chickerell down the footpath, then a bit of road, it takes about 20 minutes, please get a torch and charge your batteries, it is pitch black, but a good adventure!!! I would recommend The Turks Head in Chickerell, for when the bar on site isn't open, friendly staff and the food is lovely, dogs welcome too. We had a great time, walking, biking, fossil hunting and crabbing.
