We were touring the highlands doing the North Coast 500, so John O'Groats was on our list. This site is excellent for visiting the islands too, as a ferry leaves from Gills bay, just a few miles from site, to Orkney. The beach is amazing, as is the forest walk, just across the road from the site. Beautiful wood sculpture's can be found as you walk around. Great place for children and dogs to let off steam. Although there is no play area on site. With the beach and the forest on your doorstep, I think it's a great place for outdoor families. My only disappointment was with the warden, who was on duty when we went to the office. We had arrived in the afternoon, chosen our pitch, as per sign on door., I posted my membership card through the door and waited till 4pm when the warden was on duty. On entering the office, there was no greeting or acknowledgement. I gave her my name and pitch number, she handed my card back, checked the computer and her only words were...."one night £16.20." Very unusual, in my experience, for a warden to be so detached from their job. Everyone can have a bad day, but I don't think I'm the only person to have experienced this behaviour.
Excellent Site
Great wardens, couldn't do more to please & assist.
Wonderful site, right on fantastic sandy beach, great for dogs and avid walkers although families with children may be stumped as there are no play facilities.
Would I stay here again?
Already planning next years visit, we travelled 750 miles to get here and we highly recommend a visit to this excellent site in a fantastic part of the British Isles, you won't be disappointed, we weren't!
Good Views
Lovely site with beautiful views across the sea with nice beach. We had rain, sleet, snow and winds extremely strong but still enjoyed it. Site clean and tidy. Not very good welcome by Wardens think there attitude could have been better. Friendly Hotel up the road with a very good meal.

Great little site
Nice small site with immaculate facilities. All grass pitches but well drained( needed to be in the weater we got!) so no problem getting on and off. Direct access to 2 miles of sandy beach and goid views of the seashorefrom some pitches. Friendly helpful staff. Would definitely stay again when up that way
Coast with the most
Beautiful site with a fantastic sandy bay. Lovely coastal walks especially around Dunnet head. Ideal location for visiting Wick Thurso and John O Groats. The moody beauty of the view of the sea from your caravan window is a sight to behold. This is a site we would revisit.

A lovely peaceful site
Very much enjoyed this site for its views and situation. The facilities are good and the welcome friendly. Ideal for a tranquil break.
Love it here!
It's five years since we were last here and we weren't disappointed when we went back in September. We were again lucky enough to be pitched right next to the path to the beach (not sure I would fancy being near the road though). Just perfect here, and such a lovely area too.
BUT Caravan Club why no WiFi? I understand it isn't 'worthwhile' because of the short opening season. Yes it is to the site users!
Lovely wardens, spotless facilities, would definitely come back again.

Great Site for Couples
Stayed here in 2012 and again at the end of this year's season. Still a great site with good facilities maintained well. Lovely sandy bay immediately just off site. Fantastic area for coastal walking. Helpful friendly wardens. Site is sandwiched between main road and beach so some road noise but not obtrusive and noise from crashing waves is lovely. Look forward to returning in future. Apart from beach/bay things for kids is limited.
Glad We Stayed :)
Nice little spot , grass only pitches , only down side is the road that runs past it making it noisy at night, especially when people passing in cars beep there hooters as they drive past in the early hours of the morning !! Other than that a really lovely beach to walk the dogs on . Wardens friendly and approachable. Nice shower block and laundry , would visit again .
Love the herb box
When booking we were not told about the office specific opening hours time (09 - 11am and 4 - 6 pm). Good and very clean site, but only grass pitches available. The beach is great and very sandy. Loved this. We arrived in between these times and no access to toilets whatever. One needs to have a key to access these. You only get it after checking in. Luckly we had our caravan. Otherwise, very good facilities. Other downside to it, is that it is always windy here and the noise of the road, as the site situated right by main road going between Thurso to John O'Groats.
