Visit to the Garden of England

We have just returned home after a 10 days visit to Daleacres. The site was busy but not crowded. The facilities were spotless and the wardens as ever working away to look after everything so the site ran like clockwork. Whilst there we visited many places and one place in particular stands out the National Trust cliffs of Dover. The carpark is located on 3 levels with pic-nic tables on each level all overlooking the channel with fantastic views of Dover harbour, and the busy lanes of shipping. We were lucky to pick a clear day and could clearly see France. The NT opened the Fan Bay war tunnels in 2015 and this is a must (all free if you are members) The walk along the cliffs to the lighthouse and back including a look around would take a good half day. (would recommend). Fishing from the beach in West Hythe is worth trying at high tide, with plenty of free parking along the front at Hythe, just a hop over onto the beach. (Micks tackle shop is in Hythe near the station for live bait (lug worm is recommended by Mick) Dungeness is another of our favourites to visit and you can hop on the Dymchurch miniature railway if you wish to leave the car behind. We will deffinatly be back in the future with our caravan.
