Good for families

Not impressed

Where do we start! We found the staff very unfriendly especially one gent who clearly loved the power the job affords. He was vindictive and rude. Not one member of staff spoke in a friendly manner although to be fair we mostly had dealings with the afore mentioned gent. Dogs were running around off the lead and it was down to us to explain to the campers that our 20month old granddaughter was covered one day in dogs poo. "When we approached the warden about this incident, and pointed out the "mess" he replied "I'm off duty and anyway I don't have any disinfectant". He did however, sort of clean it up at our request We were separated from our family due to them having to be in the Tent field. We do understand this but it was difficult for us as a family. The toilet blocks were extremely clean, which during holiday time is quite a feat. We applaud them for that. We will not be visiting this site again anytime soon. We will certainly recommend Canterbury Camping and Caravan club as a much better alternative. Michael Ryan

Totally agree with trish1ry review. The rather rude man shouted at my children, ordering them off their bikes at 7 because it was getting dark!! As lovely as the place was, the attitude of said Gentleman spoilt our stay.

How awful that he was thinking of the safety of your children!

Site rule 13b -

Bicycles, skateboards, scooters and roller skates are allowed on sites although, of course, consideration should be shown to other visitors. No cycling or skating is permitted on site between the hours of dusk and dawn, as determined by the site staff. Please observe any no cycling signs on site, such as around toilet blocks, and ensure that children are supervised at all times. Remember that the principles of road safety should be observed and special care should be taken when cycling onto and off roadways. Please ask the site staff about designated cycle routes nearby

How come you allowed them to cycle after dusk? Frankly, I’m flabbergasted that you let them put themselves at risk. Here are the site rules.

So sorry to have flabbergasted you sir/madam, and how silly of me to have forgotten rule “13b” I feel such an idiot!!!

A few points though, it was not dark, nor even dusk! And certainly not after dusk as you have assumed.

Also the gentle man in question could have spoken to my children with the respect they showed him.

and lastly, are members not allowed to leave anything less than a glowing review???

Honest reviews seem to attract some rather nasty replies.

It’s dusk 'as determined by the site staff'.

If you feel the warden was rude or out of order you have the option of taking the matter up with head office.

Of course you can leave a review of any flavour but, frankly, it gets my goat when I see people using the review section to complain about the wardens doing their job.

Having read rule 13 subsection b I can confirm all rules were strictly adhered to. I would however like to draw your attention to rule 3,

subsection ‘a’ states:-

“When you're on site please don't behave in a way that discredits The Club.”

i feel the way the gentleman spoke to my children was both rude and aggressive, and as such discredits the Club.

Subsection b states:-

‘If you have children with you on the site, you are responsible for their supervision.’

both my wife and I are more than capable of supervising our children, and happily did so all week with no intervention needed.

The gentleman was not simply doing his job, he was rude and aggressive in his manner and communication to both of my children, and as such I left this in my review. A point I would like to share with other parents as it is something to be aware of when booking a visit.

And rest assured, I have emailed the caravan club directly about this matter, and will be following it up with a phone cal tomorrow morning.

I’m glad you’ve taken the course of contacting the club. It’s the correct way of dealing with the situation rather than complaining in a review.

The site rules, incidentally, refer to members. Staff have their own terms  and conditions as per their employment.
