Good for families

Nice site ruined by noise and one warden with a chip on his shoulder

Arrived on the site before the bank holiday and settled in nicely. Over the period toilet block was immaculate for the sites size and the wardens cleaning were to be complimented, hedge cutting back and grass mowing was in evidence all our stay. The wardens (99% of them) were wonderful and in the day make your stay enjoyable. The site was clean, well kept and you could see time had been spent to keep it clean. Having said all that there were two issues that let this site down. 1. I am not against children enjoying them selves at all that is what holidays with families are all about, however the road around the site is a reproduction of a mini M25 for pushbikes. During the day it is acceptable as that is the rule, however many kids want to ride around in circles, and at one time we had (counted) over 25 on bikes going around and around, both ways against the one way system and with it, shouting and generally noisy, however let them enjoy themselves in the day. Come night time when the rule say's no bikes, there were also no wardens to put a stop to exactly what was happening through the day, up to and past 10:30 at night, some cyclist's did have lights on the bikes, the scooters and segways did not. This was not a nice time to sit outside with a vino or two, listening to all the shouting. 2. I see that one warden has been mentioned in the reviews previous, and he stuck out like a sore thumb, he should have a hat with "Jobsworth" written on it. All he seemed to do was (try) to march around the field as though he had swallowed a wasp, picking up on the smallest issues and making them out to be the start of WW3, he needs to get a life or at least take some social skills course, his manner was I must say the talk of the campsite, how rude he was. One instance which we witnessed was, the owners of van opposite us returned from a shopping trip, and pulled up to their van by driving over the grass that everybody else has to drive over on that particular part of the site, he tore into the driver telling him he should have driven the full circuit of the site to get into the last pitch by the assistant wardens area, why he singled this guy out is a mystery as people were driving against the one way system to go over the grass at this part, and all the other vans had to drive the same way this driver went to get to their pitch, why did he rant at this guy, We decided that we loved the cleanliness of thew site, the location of the site, but for the stated reasons we would never go there again, in fact it resolved us to only ever book adult only sites in the future.

If you have a complaint, which it seems you have with children on bikes and so on not being stopped by site staff, I'd have thought it right for you to take it up with the club. What the other guy does is up to him.

Not being funny tinwheeler, but who exactly are you to be giving the orders. I have put a review up for everyone to see and read, as is my perogative, and that is the idea of reviews for each and every individual to read and assess. Looking at ytour profile you do seem to poke you nose in quiet a bit, I suspect you are a warden who does not enjoy reading true reports with regards to campsites that are a bit on the negative side. Please refrane from pushing your thoughts onto my review when you have no idea and was not there at the time.

Warden - that's a joke. You couldn’t pay me enough to put up with what they have to. If you took note of what I said, you would have realised I was describing how to take your complaint further to head office to get the issue addressed and I was not defending the wardens or the site in any way but attempting to be helpful.

Yes, it’s your prerogative to write a review just as it is mine to comment and suggest, not order, ways that you can follow up the issues you raised with those in a position to act.

Poke my nose in? How rude! This is part of a public discussion area where we are all free to comment on any part of the forum, stories or reviews. Have you not realised that?

Magiceye , I think you need to back and read the thread again, all TW was saying is that if you have a concern with something that happens on a site and you feel that the warden was not that helpful then the next best option is to contact HO , as they can look in to the concern for you
